Strange and unfamiliar plants have been appearing across the islands. Scattered seeds, fast-growing sprouts, and sprawling vines herald the arrival of newcomes:

Oviraptors.

39-image.png

These small strangers are elusive and secretive, and they don't seem keen to interact with other dinosaurs. But where they walk, seeds are left in their wake, and new growth creeps from the earth.

No one knows where the oviraptors came from, or for how long they've been spreading their seeds, but it's become clear that there's a problem. These new plants are overgrowing the areas where they've been left, and some of the plants are downright dangerous- including poisonous thorns and toxic blooms.

There have been recent sightings of the oviraptors at multiple locations across the islands, where it seems that they are currently making stops on their journeys.

It's time to take a closer look at the situation and find out some answers-

And perhaps begin a journey of your own.

Strange Sightings

War of Thorns Chapter 1 Map

There have been sightings of oviraptors and strange plants spread across the Pera and Kela islands, most recently at the indicated landmarks. You'll need to investigate at these locations if you want to discover more about these newcomers!

Shimmering Cove
A hidden Pera cove of rainbow rocks. Enjoy a climb on the rocks, or dive below to see them underwater!

Lava Tunnels
Subterranean tunnels that wind beneath Pera's surface, full of geological wonders and rare glimpses of the sky.

Rainbow Lake
A colorful, highly alkaline lake isolated in the Kela scrubland. This salty place is inhospitable to most!

Tomb of Tomes
An architectural wonder tucked away in a verdant sinkhole on Kela. Old books still line its shelves.

Grand Arch
A large sandstone formation on the Kela coast, extending both above and below the water.

Raffles

Throughout the duration of the event, you'll want to keep an eye on the raffle page and/or make sure you're on our Discord and have opted into the "raffle" role to receive pings for them!

Raffles will include a mix of free-to-enter raffles for items, imports, and more; draw-to-adopt raffles for imports, in which you must submit an entry to the corresponding prompt to be entered; and some additional raffles for imports and special items which will require doubloons to enter.

The draw-to-adopt raffle imports for Chapter 1 are Tiainen and Hippocampus, a pair of oviraptor scouts!

Questing

Curious as to how event quests work? Here, we'll cover each type of quest prompt and review things you need to know for this event.

If you need a refresher on overall questing information, check out our Quest Guide!

This event includes 3 types of prompts: Story, Karma, and Token.

Story prompts may only be completed 1 time per person, with 1 dino, and you must be the creator or a collaborator of your entry. These quests follow the main story of the event and have guaranteed rewards for all entries- meaning there's no game of chance with your loot!

Karma prompts can be repeated as many times as you like, and you are not required to be the creator. Loot rewards are randomly rolled from a pool of options.
In this event, these quests have a positive (+) or negative (-) impact on each character's reputation represented by a status effect, which can be increased or decreased by completing prompts with a (+) or (-). Karma is per-import, and not per-user, so you can choose which path you want for each of your characters!

Each karma path has its own pros and cons, so choose carefully when deciding to increase or decrease your import's reputation.

Token prompts require an item- or token- to be able to complete the prompt. You can do these quests as many times as you like so long as you have tokens to continue using, and you are not required to be the creator of the piece.
For this event, tokens come in the form of Shimmering Doubloons and Tarnished Doubloons. These coins have a chance to drop from karma quests, but they are specifically tied to the type of karma quest you complete- improving your reputation with the newcomers may reward Shimmering Doubloons, while worsening your reputation may reward Tarnished Doubloons. Each token prompt indicates which type of doubloon it requires for entry in the prompt description. Loot rewards are randomly rolled from a pool of options, but with slightly better rates than karma quests.
