Major Updates

Posted 11 months ago :: Last edited 11 months ago by Tokkay

We've made a lot of updates in the last couple of days! Check out each section to learn about what has changed.

Activities

Our biggest update is an overhaul of the activity quest system. Click here to read more about quests

This update includes new loot and prompt-specific loot drops for all adventure, hunting, and foraging prompts! This means certain items will only be available by completing certain quests. So if you are hunting for a specific item for a crafting recipe, make sure you check out that item to see where it can be found!

Adventure quests will no longer differentiate between carnivores and herbivores for food drops, so any dinosaur can receive any food item from those quests.
Additionally, aging quests have been updated. We have removed the half-body parental requirement from aging quests, and all aging quests now have a chance to drop loot. You can also double up dinosaurs in aging quests now, meaning you can age two characters in one submission (though please know you'll be unable to split backgrounds if doing this)!

One prompt has been renamed: the "Food.. FIGHT?" hunting prompt is now "Kill or be Killed"

Items

As we mentioned above, there is new loot available! New food and crafting items can now be found in quests. You'll have to take a look around to see what those are- we won't spoil them here! There are also a bunch of new crafting recipes available to allow crafting of backgrounds, applicators, and more, including items moved over from the Bone Shop.

Standard variant applicators are now available in the Bone Shop. You can use one of these to switch your dinosaur to the standard bald or standard feathered variant. A skin modifier is no longer required to switch your dinosaur's covering first- you only need the variant applicator.

The skin modifier has been removed from the Bone Shop and can be resold from your inventory for the purchase price (60 RB) if you wish! The feather tuft item has also been removed from the shop and is currently not functional for breedings- it can also be resold for purchase price (50 RB), but may be later repurposed to work with variants.

These items have been removed from the Bone Shop and added as crafting recipes:

- Minimal marking applicators: Blush, Kestrel, Points, Toes

- Backgrounds: Wild Savanna, Shipwreck, Outlook Ridge

These items have been updated in the Bone Shop:

- Spiked Applicator and Scruffy Applicator are now both 25 RB each (previously 20)

- Several backgrounds added to the shop

Some other things have been updated:

- Junk item category is now Materials

- Feather item is now Gull Feather

- Small Prey item is now Sparrow

- Nest item now requires 5 materials each to craft (previously 4)

Markings

We've made updates to many markings as well. Click here to view all markings

There's a new edge type available for piebald, curse, and splash called halo. This edge type allows you to create a semi-transparent "halo" or border of color along the edges of the marking. Halo edge needs to match the color of the marking it is on, so you can't use it to create entirely new colors to border the marking.

Some markings have been updated to now allow for a two-tone coloration in the homozygous form. Limited-palette markings (such as piebald and curse) require both colors to be selected from the given swatches:

- Dun

- Dapple

- Pants

- Sleeves

- Roan

- Anteater

- Appaloosa

- Curse

- Piebald

- Eroded

- Merle

- Painted

Brindle has been revamped to something that we hope will be a little more variable and easier to work with! New brindle options include:

- Less texture-reliant, meaning you can do more solid, thin stripes if you wish (as opposed to only the rugged stripes from before)

- Ability to make brindle semi-transparent, with overlapping and mixing of solid and semi-transparent stripes

- Ability to fade brindle around all edges (instead of only the undersides)

Other marking updates:

- Scutes has received new homozygous range additions to the marking ranges.

- Saddle can now fade out towards the head and tail

- Merle now allows lighter colors to be used

- Pants and Sleeves no longer have a rule requiring them to match the hue of the base color

Rules

A new rule has been added to disallow AI-generated artwork and literature for group submissions. This includes any AI-generated assets, so even if you use only part of an AI-generated image or text in your submission, it will be rejected.

Character mimicry rules have also been updated for clarification. Inspired character designs are acceptable, but designs mimicking copyrighted characters, mimicking the likeness of real people, or copying designs created by other people is not acceptable.

Experience Points

Click here to view EXP information

Pixel art EXP has been updated to now count pixels the same as other art (previously counted as simplified). A third EXP category has been added for animations to include simple 1-2 frame animations such as blinking.

Courtship art now counts as a quest and may receive the quest bonus.

The detailed bonus may still be counted for quests which previously were graded as detailed.

Whew, I think that covers it for the most part!

We still have a lot in store coming soon! There are more updates we plan to make, especially with items and activities. The new activity system and rates are subject to change; we may make adjustments as we see how things go.

The Hatchery function is coming very soon as well.

Thank you for your continued support, and for your patience as we continue reorganizing things and getting our website running smoothly! We hope you'll have fun with all the new updates!
