Notable Traits
A bit short, but well-proportioned otherwise. His long crest plumage helps give him a bit of extra height, and tail fan a bit of extra length. His crests take extra time to dry out after a swim, and tend to look unkempt until they’re dry again.

Interactions

Rowan had a relatively sheltered childhood and as a result can come across as awkward when meeting others. He has a very kind heart, and is extremely careful not to upset others.

He struggles with keeping his emotions in check, sometimes reacting explosively to high-energy, emotional circumstances. He works very hard to keep his emotions restrained, which may make him come off as apathetic.

History

Rowan has no idea that he’ll never meet the first clutch his parents ever had. He has no idea that his father burned their eggs, only that his mother doesn’t talk about Pyro. He knows the massive destruction that fire can cause though, and he grew up terrified of it.

He was kept close to his mother Reagan when he was growing up, and adored the time that he spent with her and his siblings. The times that his father started visiting… were less cheerful. Knowing mostly only his mother's love, meeting another suchomimus claiming to be his father was alarming. Pyro seemed to adore them - mostly his siblings. Is there something wrong with him?

Pyro tried to teach them how to manipulate fire, but after Rowan singed his feathers and burned his muzzle, he wanted nothing to do with the flames. He feared it instead, which was only worsened by his mother's own hatred for it.

He tried to avoid the sucho who called himself his father after that, and spent more time in and near the water.

As he grew and eventually left his mother's company, he found himself exploring mostly along waterways. It kept him safe from the reaches of fire, it had plenty of food, and it lead to him one day encountering Mirage.

Mirage… was sweet. Rowan had a rather sheltered upbringing and didn't have a lot of experience with others, but Mirage was patient. Or rather, he came off as so carefree and mellow that he didn't seem bothered by the fact that Rowan seemed embarrassed to talk about anything to do with his family if the topic came up, or his caution when it came to meeting the rest of Mirage's bask when he invited Rowan to the island.

It seemed a perfect solution for Mirage's fear of fire - a safe haven, calm and quiet, surrounded by water. And... he found he had good company there as well.
