Shape and Placement

  • Creates stripes and/or spots which glow faintly.
-- Does not affect normal markings nor cause them to glow.
  • Should remain somewhat natural in shape.
  • Can mimic normal markings, but is not allowed to mimic other mutations.

Color

  • Can be one solid color or two-toned with a gradient.
  • Must be bright, light colors.
  • No saturation limits - colors can be very saturated.
  • Can not be affected by color modifiers.

Interactions

  • Must layer above all other markings, including markings such as Curse and Piebald, and dimorphic markings.
  • May layer on top of or under other mutations as long as its consistent across the design.
-- Can present on other mutation features.
  • Eyes, keratin, gums, and nostrils can match the color of the bioluminescence and may glow.
-- Can create stripes or spots on keratin.
  • Glow affect may overlay the lineart, including the pupils.

Allowed Edge Types

Bioluminescence is allowed one edge type from the below options -  a guide to each edge type can be found by clicking on the images
Hard
Textured
Feathered

Examples

Bioluminescence presenting as spots with a two-tone fade and affecting the eyes, mouth, and nostrils as well as keratin on the tail.

Bioluminescence presenting as stripes and streaks, and affecting keratin on the head.

Bioluminescence presenting as stripes on the head and affecting the eyes and mouth.

Bioluminescence presenting as several kinds of spots and stripes, as well as spotting the keratin

Bioluminescence stripes are too thick, connected, and blobby. The spots here are also too large

Range

  • Minimum requirement - a few spots and/or stripes must be present.
  • Maximum allowance - can cover up to 75% of the body.
  • This mutation may present anywhere on the body but can not affect the teeth.
-- Can be in separate areas of the body - does not need to all be in one area.
