Shape and Placement

  • This marking cannot create complex patterns or shapes.
  • This marking cannot have have holes in it.
  • You may, however, add a maximum of ONE vertical break in the marking.
    -- This marking can be composed of two big parts but they must look like they're part of the same marking, they can't have completely different shapes.
  • This marking cannot mimic other markings.

Color

  • Het form must be one solid color.
  • Hom form can be two-toned with a gradient.
  • Can be any natural color.
  • Can be affected by color modifiers.

This is an example of Het Countershade being darker than the base coat.


This is an example of Hom. Countershade lighter than the base coat and two-toned.


This is an example of Countershade presenting a break in the marking, creating two large parts.

 

This example is incorrect because Countershade cannot show clear patterns! It also cannot have small holes in it.


This example is incorrect because it is not blended enough.


This example is incorrect because the gradient has a slight hard edge by the neck and stomach! This counts as a 'hard edge' and this marking must be gradient edged!


This example is incorrect because Countershaded cannot have many gaps. It also cannot create patterns, spots or stripes!

 

This Countershade is illegal because it's not blended enough!


This Countershade is illegal because it's not blended enough!


This Countershade is illegal because it's not equally blended everywhere! It's blended enough on the body and tail, but not on the neck.


The thigh is out of range for Het Countershade! The face gradient should continue onto the feathers, this currently counts as a hard edge. Countershade changes color across the feathers.
