Hatchery and More

Posted 2 years ago :: Last edited 2 years ago by PrimevalAge

We've got another set of updates today, so let's dive right into it!

Hatchery

The long-awaited day is finally here: you can hatch your eggs now!

All eggs are now hatchable from your inventory. If you are ready to hatch an egg, navigate to your inventory, click on the egg you want to hatch, and check the box next to the item (if you have multiple of the same egg, you can hatch them all at once). Then click on the "use slot" dropdown and hatch your egg! A new geno will be generated, which you can find by clicking on the link that appears at the top of the page or navigating to your "my genos" list.

Species eggs will generate a geno with 2-6 random markings of the designated species.

Color modifier eggs will generate a geno with 2-6 random markings and will include the designated color modifier, but the species will be randomized.

Forums

Our forums have been set up on-site! Check them out here

There are areas for game discussion, character sharing, art display, advertising, and roleplay, amongst other things.

Make sure you mind the rules on each board. If there are any rules you think should be added or changed, or if you'd like to see a certain type of board get added to the forums, please let us know!

Lore

The official map locations for Isla Kela and Isla Pera have been updated with new information for all of them!

Click here to visit the main map page

You can navigate to each island to see information on that island's biomes and user-created locations. Isla Pera's new locations have been added, and all locations on both islands have new supporting text about them.

New Diets

Two species have been changed to now have an omnivorous diet: Pachycephalosaurus and Aristonectes

This means that you can use these characters for both hunting and foraging quests!

Toyhou.se

Primeval Age has a world on Toyhou.se! Everyone is welcome to join and submit your Primeval Age characters to the world. We'll eventually be setting up a few forums for the world as well!

Visit Primeval Age on Toyhou.se by clicking here

We hope you enjoy these updates! Thank you for your patience with us as we continue to make updates and work on improving site features. Please let us know if you encounter any bugs or other issues with the new features (especially the hatchery functions) and we'll tackle them as quickly as possible.

Major Updates

Posted 2 years ago :: Last edited 2 years ago by Tokkay

We've made a lot of updates in the last couple of days! Check out each section to learn about what has changed.

Activities

Our biggest update is an overhaul of the activity quest system. Click here to read more about quests

This update includes new loot and prompt-specific loot drops for all adventure, hunting, and foraging prompts! This means certain items will only be available by completing certain quests. So if you are hunting for a specific item for a crafting recipe, make sure you check out that item to see where it can be found!

Adventure quests will no longer differentiate between carnivores and herbivores for food drops, so any dinosaur can receive any food item from those quests.
Additionally, aging quests have been updated. We have removed the half-body parental requirement from aging quests, and all aging quests now have a chance to drop loot. You can also double up dinosaurs in aging quests now, meaning you can age two characters in one submission (though please know you'll be unable to split backgrounds if doing this)!

One prompt has been renamed: the "Food.. FIGHT?" hunting prompt is now "Kill or be Killed"

Items

As we mentioned above, there is new loot available! New food and crafting items can now be found in quests. You'll have to take a look around to see what those are- we won't spoil them here! There are also a bunch of new crafting recipes available to allow crafting of backgrounds, applicators, and more, including items moved over from the Bone Shop.

Standard variant applicators are now available in the Bone Shop. You can use one of these to switch your dinosaur to the standard bald or standard feathered variant. A skin modifier is no longer required to switch your dinosaur's covering first- you only need the variant applicator.

The skin modifier has been removed from the Bone Shop and can be resold from your inventory for the purchase price (60 RB) if you wish! The feather tuft item has also been removed from the shop and is currently not functional for breedings- it can also be resold for purchase price (50 RB), but may be later repurposed to work with variants.

These items have been removed from the Bone Shop and added as crafting recipes:

- Minimal marking applicators: Blush, Kestrel, Points, Toes

- Backgrounds: Wild Savanna, Shipwreck, Outlook Ridge

These items have been updated in the Bone Shop:

- Spiked Applicator and Scruffy Applicator are now both 25 RB each (previously 20)

- Several backgrounds added to the shop

Some other things have been updated:

- Junk item category is now Materials

- Feather item is now Gull Feather

- Small Prey item is now Sparrow

- Nest item now requires 5 materials each to craft (previously 4)

Markings

We've made updates to many markings as well. Click here to view all markings

There's a new edge type available for piebald, curse, and splash called halo. This edge type allows you to create a semi-transparent "halo" or border of color along the edges of the marking. Halo edge needs to match the color of the marking it is on, so you can't use it to create entirely new colors to border the marking.

Some markings have been updated to now allow for a two-tone coloration in the homozygous form. Limited-palette markings (such as piebald and curse) require both colors to be selected from the given swatches:

- Dun

- Dapple

- Pants

- Sleeves

- Roan

- Anteater

- Appaloosa

- Curse

- Piebald

- Eroded

- Merle

- Painted

Brindle has been revamped to something that we hope will be a little more variable and easier to work with! New brindle options include:

- Less texture-reliant, meaning you can do more solid, thin stripes if you wish (as opposed to only the rugged stripes from before)

- Ability to make brindle semi-transparent, with overlapping and mixing of solid and semi-transparent stripes

- Ability to fade brindle around all edges (instead of only the undersides)

Other marking updates:

- Scutes has received new homozygous range additions to the marking ranges.

- Saddle can now fade out towards the head and tail

- Merle now allows lighter colors to be used

- Pants and Sleeves no longer have a rule requiring them to match the hue of the base color

Rules

A new rule has been added to disallow AI-generated artwork and literature for group submissions. This includes any AI-generated assets, so even if you use only part of an AI-generated image or text in your submission, it will be rejected.

Character mimicry rules have also been updated for clarification. Inspired character designs are acceptable, but designs mimicking copyrighted characters, mimicking the likeness of real people, or copying designs created by other people is not acceptable.

Experience Points

Click here to view EXP information

Pixel art EXP has been updated to now count pixels the same as other art (previously counted as simplified). A third EXP category has been added for animations to include simple 1-2 frame animations such as blinking.

Courtship art now counts as a quest and may receive the quest bonus.

The detailed bonus may still be counted for quests which previously were graded as detailed.

Whew, I think that covers it for the most part!

We still have a lot in store coming soon! There are more updates we plan to make, especially with items and activities. The new activity system and rates are subject to change; we may make adjustments as we see how things go.

The Hatchery function is coming very soon as well.

Thank you for your continued support, and for your patience as we continue reorganizing things and getting our website running smoothly! We hope you'll have fun with all the new updates!

May Updates!

Posted 2 years ago :: Last edited 2 years ago by WesternHaunt

It May be time for a new round of monthlies! Check out this month's prompts and new collectable, Glitter Sparkle

Additionally some major features are finally open on the site; Breeding Submissions and the Adoption Center are now open!

There are still a few bugs remaining for us to fix, so a few things may not be working right now - check out the pinned post in the site-bugs thread of our discord server for a list of current bugs. Please be sure to check this list before submitting a clutch!

The Adoption Center currently has nothing in it, but you can submit surrenders if you have any genos or imports you'd like to give up. You'll now receive 5 RB for each one you surrender (once it is approved)! We will begin adding some genos from our starter pairs to the AC throughout this week, so keep an eye on it!

The Adoption Center has also had a major rule change - instead of the 30-day cooldown with a maximum limit of 5 adoptions, we've updated this to a 60-day cooldown between adoptions with no limit on the amount you can adopt. Cooldowns have reset and everyone should be able to adopt once genos and imports are added!

Thank you for all your patience while we've worked on these things, and while we continue to work on the site! We couldn't do it without your support. We wish you all the luck with your breedings, and hope you have fun with the new Adoption Center!

Anniversary Events!

Posted 3 years ago :: Last edited 3 years ago by WesternHaunt

This month marks the 4th anniversary of Primeval Age! With 14 playable species, 63 different markings, and over 3000 approved imports, we couldn't have gotten here without you!

As a thank you, we have sent every person on the site a special Gift Basket, containing a Moonflower Fields BG, Relic Bones, and an assortment of other treats!

Additionally, there will be a raffle held for more prizes, with more throughout the next few weeks!

-------------------------------------------

To celebrate the anniversary, its time to take a closer look at our most recent island, Isla Pera with a new Discovering the World event!

Enter with your idea for a special landmark or area that could appear on Isla Pera! At the end of the event, 10 winners will be chosen who's locations will become permanent, canonical locations in PA!

-------------------------------------------

Lastly, we've got a lot of exciting things planned for the future!

We can't share specifics, but here are some things we hope to have active on the website around the end of this month/early next month!

-Adding an option to increase the age of an import as an activity reward

-Making the Rainbow Scarab item functional for use from the inventory

-Finalizing and launching the breeding system

-Making the Random Marking Applicator and Herb Paste items functional for use from the inventory

-Hatchery system

March Updates!

Posted 3 years ago :: Last edited 3 years ago by WesternHaunt

March is here, along with 3 new monthly quests! Additionally, the Winter Wares shop is now closed for the season, which means the Spring Delights shop is now open! Quests from March to May will drop Down Feathers, which can be used to purchase seasonal applicators and backgrounds!

This month also marks Primeval Age’s 4th anniversary! From humble beginnings, to now 14 species, it's been a long journey, and we’re fortunate to have had you along the way!

In celebration, the collectable this month is a hearty slice of Clover Cake

You might have also noticed an “awards” tab on your dinosaurs lately; this is where monthly collectables will now be displayed!
If you would like to add a previously earned collectible, these are now open to claim! Just go to User > My Claims and make a new claim - please include the following:

  • Link to current import
  • Link to previous dA import
  • Which collectables need to be added

One dinosaur per claim please! This includes any monthly collectible, including those earned before the site move! Previous non-monthly collectables will be added in future
