Velella - or Vel for short - has always lived by the sea in one way or another. 

Vel grew up in a sunny, yet rather cold, beach with her adoptive dad. They use to explore the beach and it treasures, and her dad told her legends, passed down through his family, about the origins of the many odd items that would wash up. 

That was a long time ago.

Now, Vel is a wanderer, but one way or another, she always comes back to water.

She is around middle age.

Vel's diet consists of small to large mammals and sometimes large fish or sharks.

She will resort to eating outside of her preferred diet, including scavenging from herbi corpses, during lean times.

Her favorite food is seals.

Vel takes great delight in feeding birds - particularly seagulls - bits from her hunts.

Vel will refuse to hunt birds as, according to the legends she grew up with, birds are spirits of dinosaurs that finally learned how to fly.

Velella likes to beachcomb in her spare time and will occasionally move items that interest her (like buoys and large, curious pieces of trash or shells) off the beach and to random locations she can find them later. Thus, finding beach trash in odd locations is a good way to tell if she's near.

Vel also collects bird skulls and bones, often placing them at her treasure locations.

🌸✨🪼Interactions🪼✨🌸

Velella tends to be a loner and prefers to avoid interacting with large herbis and hunters. On the occasions she interacts with other large hunters, she will be polite, though wary, as a rule.

Velella also tends to be polite to smaller hunters, and she is most willing to start up conversations with friendly smaller hunters, as long as they are not in numbers that could pose a danger to her.

Vel has a big soft spot for bird like dinosaurs, namely Utahs, Nequens, Ovis, Tapes, and Tropeos. She will be very friendly towards them (or at least much more patient that she would be with other dinosaurs) and occasionally will treat them like hatchlings.

Vel also is very friendly towards any water dwelling dinosaur, and is especially fascinated by Aristros. Given the opportunity, she will ask Aristos about the underwater world.

Velella doesn't usually try to talk to herbis, and tends to react with suprise and caution if a herbi attempts to communicate with her without aggression. She is willing to be cordial with herbis as long as they are likewise.

Velella will particularly avoid all herbis larger than her (iggys, theris) as it just too easy for those interactions to become deadly.
