The work of planting continued for a while in silence. Korppi and Talos seemed to have come to the end of their questions, or they were rattled enough by the previous answers to avoid asking any more. Drift kept looking over her shoulder to the two Euoplos, hoping to catch them talking to each other or showing any kind of interest in the land around them but both were keeping their heads down and working. It made her feel a little bit annoyed, she loved her home...

“We give you shelter, we give you food, we give you protection - and this is how you repay us?” Talos lowed. “Thievery?” His silhouette was sharp and jagged in the doorway, false moonlight glinting off his helm and almost seeming to make his pale feathers glow. Short bone spikes on the wrap around his tail made the slow swing of his hammer especially threatening....

Talos and Korppi were somehow pulled away from their prime directive of planting by the promise of knowledge from their native guides. The concept of seasons where their plants might be able to grow had thrown them for a loop and now they were eager to absorb any scrap of knowledge they could in order to improve the chances of the Queen's orders. Atlantis was everything their mother had described it to be, a green hell with glass ceilings and an endless pit of greenery to be swallowed in. Equinox had finally found the lost civilization of Atlantis. The jungle was hot, hot beyond anything that Bassoon had felt before. The overgrown foliage trapped the heat beneath the trees, and the massive amounts of water that came from them being underwater made the air extremely humid.
