What an odd duo – a carnivore conversing with an omnivore was rather odd. Granted they would have one thing in common. The food is sometimes consumed.

Nightingale the Cryo, never wanted to disappoint anyone because that is something that made her think of her mother. Someone who was not so nice.

Whereas Berlioz the Pachy, was always observant and wanted to be the most fastest messenger. Ever!

It was around mid-morning, nearly noon, and one could tell how the sun was centered in the soft blue sky. The heat of the sun felt nice, it was just right for any dinosaur. There were ivory clouds that fluttered throughout the sky and skyline as the breeze was merely consistent. Other life forms being busy bodies for the daytime.

Nightingale had been wandering around the area, somewhere in the middle of the forest, really. It was near a large field of floral. Somewhere she had been before and loved the scent of the various flowers that filled her nostrils. It filled her with such joy.

As she was wandering about, another crossed her path. A Pachy. What the heck?, she thought to herself. All her adulthood, she had not met one of these before.

“Who… and what, are you?” Nightingale spoke softly, tilting her skull to the side a bit with a decent amount of curiosity.

“O-oh,” the Pachy looked around with their blue eyes, merely shifting her eyes; trying to see if there was anyone else nearby that could be the target, “Me? I ‘m Berlioz.”

“Hm..” Nightingale gave an intense stare before she allowed a smile to sweep across her snout, “I’m Nightingale. Pleased to meet you.”

“Ni..nice to meet you too, I guess,” Berlioz was hesitant to speak to this carnivore. The ‘I guess’ in her statement was kind of sarcastic tone. If she did one wrong move or turn, she could be eaten! Granted, from the looks of it, as she scanned the Cryo named Nightingale. She did not seem so bad. Let alone, the scent Berlioz inhaled did not seem like a threat.

“What brings you over here?” Nightingale posed, curiously within her tone of voice. Looking around the two of them, implying they were in a field of flowers.

“Oh, I’m looking for something to bring to the court,” Berlioz replied, confidently and nearly forgetting the idea of her talking with a carnivore. It dawned on her that maybe, just maybe, they could team up and figure out what to bring to the court.

“Say, wanna help me find something delicious to bring to the court?,” Berlioz continued with a questioning tone. Before Nightingale could ever reply, she posed another question, “And uh, are you fast?”

Nightingale listened carefully as she was about to reply, was interrupted with follow up type of question. A soft giggle ruptured through her chest and out of her maw.

“Why, surprisingly, ….yes,…. I am. To answer both of your questions,” she continued. Her body swaying as her tail nearly wagging with anticipation behind her.

“Well, let’s go find something together and bring it to them! Perhaps we should find something that matches my speed ---,” Berlioz caught herself as she smirked a little. There was no way this Cryo was fast. Most of them she had come across in her life were slow. She continued her thought of words, “I mean, our speeds.”

“I mean, I don’t see why not?” Nightingale answered. Taking note of how Berlioz was acting but did not think anything of it. It was just food they were after and to bring it to someone else. But who, was the true question.

The duo then decided and agreed on walking out of the flower field and into an area that was an old building. Probably some type of school or office space when the humans were around. It was clearly abandoned, with moss grown on it and the windows shattered or boarded up. There was a lot of other odd shapes around the outside, symbols or something that neither of them would quite understand what it would mean.

After some time of inspecting the front of the building, Berlioz paused then looked behind to Nightingale before speaking in merely a whisper, “Shh, I smell something.”

With no hesitation, Nightingale paused.  Lifting her nose to the sky before lowering it to the ground, inhaling and exhaling the smells. It was a rodent. Maybe a raccoon scurrying about or even something a bit bigger like a boar.

Little did they know there was another scent, but neither could identify it. It was as though the greens, and the rodent-like scent were quite pungent for their nostrils.

“Let’s try to trap it, I’ll go this way, and you go that way,” Berlioz led with her head shifting ‘this way’ to the left, and ‘that way’ to the right. Her body balanced in either direction with her words feeling the grounds beneath her long thick toes. She was quite curious to know whether this Cryo was as fast as she claimed to be.

With this strategy, it allowed the two of them to go towards the backside of the run-down building in hopes of trapping it. Whatever it is. Splitting up was definitely a better option, especially since they both were pretty fast for their types!

As the pair separated, the creature that was caught within the nostrils was in fact an oviraptor blended with a rodent. A raccoon.

The oviraptor was a few shades of browns as well as stripes throughout their spiked body. There was also some unique teal colored marking from its mid-neck to above its eye. Nightingale and Berlioz did not know who it was – but it was Mischief. She had been out and about, causing mischief with rats and other rodents within the area.

She had just started to munch on a fairly large raccoon. The creature lay limp under her taloned toes. However, her ears caught wind of the scents of others. A low growl beckoned within as she saw a Cryo and a Pachy come from both sides of her.

Luckily, Mischief’s prey was limp, there was no way it was going to escape her presence.

“Whoa, wait --,” Nightingale stopped within her stride, she had a decent momentum from her way. Her red eyes blinked, surprised to see an oviraptor. Tilting her head curiously, she shifted her eyes over to Berlioz right before they would interrupt her.

“Hey that was ours!” Berlioz yelled as if she could hardly stop her charge. However, seeing that Nightingale was there within seconds prior. She calmed down a little and stopped in her tracks as well. Arching her body upright more, she looked at the odd small oviraptor.

“Hey now, get yer own meal!” Mischief spoke in a pleasant tone but with very little annoyance. She would be okay with sharing. But only if they would ask.

Nightingale looked back and forth between everyone; the raccoon, the oviraptor, the Pachy. What a weird situation. A soft giggle of amusement was felt, rumbling through her chest before words would disrupt and make it so the others would not hear her giggle. “Can we have some? We just want a snack,” Nightingale asked, calmly. Slowly stepping closer to break any tension that seemed to be felt between the oviraptor and Berlioz.

Berlioz blinked, confused, but then felt and heard her stomach grumble. She was a bit hungry. Calmly, she too, walked closer to the oviraptor in a non-threatening position within her posture.

Mischief winced slightly as she felt the predators come closer to her, closing the gap that was between them before. It was probably a few meters on both sides of them. A little chill made her shiver but perked up as she heard the Cryo ask.

“Ah! Why of course!” Mischief flapped her arms happily as her yellowish gold eyes glistened with joy. “Thank you for asking first! Cuz y’kno’ many like yerselves wudn’t ask”, she spoke with such enthusiasm, and she also had a bit of wit within her tone. She was glad the two were not going to eat her prey, let alone her.

“Thank you,” Nightingale replied with a smile, while giving a light head nod that was basically a bow of sorts.

Berlioz was unsure but followed Nightingale’s lead, giving a light nod of acknowledgement before walking closer.

The trio of various-sized dinosaurs consumed the raccoon, calmly and peacefully.
