Ashlands

This is a region of high volcanic activity located in southwestern Isla Pera, stretching from the crater of the southern caldera all the way down to the sea. The Ashlands were formed after the most recent, large-scale volcanic eruption which occurred many decades ago. Much of the land is barren, volcanic soil, which is often whipped up into fierce dust clouds. The plant life that does grow here is sparse and adapted for arid environments. Remains of forests and human dwellings may be found throughout. The Ashlands are hilly and comprised of highly uneven terrain, and lava tunnels run beneath parts of the land; those who are not careful with their footing may find themselves plunging through a thin crust of volcanic rock and down into a tunnel. Lava flows are very common to see in the Ashlands, deterring many creatures from exploring too near.
