The trip through the jungle was exhausting. Mud was everywhere, the ground constantly damp no matter where one put themselves. Sometimes the ground underneath them would suddently shift to soft sand, almost causing one of the larger parasaurs to loose their footing and fall. And above all, the plants were a huge obstacle. Seemingly innocent and normal, when you got too close jagged thorns in a mockery of a mouth would snap and clamp and tear off clunks of feathe...

The information given to them by the oviraptor had turned out to be enough when combined with the rumors spreading across the islands faster than the plants. Whispers of a tunnel found in a building long abandoned, a tunnel not made of stone and earth but metal and steel. A tunnel that, somehow, winded under the ocean. They had long been built by man, and soon after reclaimed by the underwater jungle they had seen fit to make. The tunnels beneath the islands were, as you would imagine, damp. Mary shuddered as she pushed through the humid air, shaking her feathers out as they curled even more than usual. The mission was not a new one, Mary knew as she led her small team across the rushing river. Water tugged and pulled at her feathers like sharp teeth, but she was far too large now to be pushed down by a relatively shallow river.    Above her in the sky Oboe flapped, black and white wings giving her the ability to completely skip the challenge of making her way through the river. Deep in the thickest forests of the prehistoric ridden islands was a clear blue pond. Water drained down from a nearby mountain, spiraling downwards in a long waterfall that cast its water into the crevice below. This water hole had become a favorite spot for many over the years, its peaceful location serving as some sort of neutral grounds between the creatures who inhabited the forest. Here, anyone could drink peacefully.    ...

The sun was rising on the islands when Apis sleepily stirred from her thrown together nest of shrubbery. Unlike many others of her kind, she spent her time out in the vast grasslands of the hidden islands. Apis had a strikingly yellow hide- abandoned by her birth pack as soon as she hatched, she had been forced to lurk out a living on her own in a hostile environment. Much too bright for the shadows of the forest, she found a home in the rippling yellow grass....

A trio of flying dinosaurs- tapejara- soar over the ruins of a human settlement, searching for the mysterious ‘oviraptor’ dinosaurs that they've heard other dinosaurs talk about. Bassoon, a dark feathered tapejara with bright white markings along his face, leads the way. Teacup, a sandy brown shaggy tapejara with blue markings along his wings and face follow...

The tunnels beneath the sea were restricting, and it felt to Ikkuno like the walls were closing in on him at all times. The dark wasn’t an issue – actually, he rather liked the dark and found some sense of comfort in it. Mostly … it was the cold. The feeling of a chill nipping at his toes, the cold water of the sea above them and occasionally dripping down onto him, it threatened to fling his mind to the past, to dislodge memories he tried so hard to bury....

The jungle was hot, hot beyond anything that Bassoon had felt before. The overgrown foliage trapped the heat beneath the trees, and the massive amounts of water that came from them being underwater made the air extremely humid. Humid heat was the worst, the tapejara was quickly learning. Panting, the flyer let himself collapse in the cool mud with a groan. While far from cold, it was warmer than the actual jungle was.    ...

The path through the strange tunnels had been long and terrifying. While there had been little to no danger inside the human-made tunnels, the ocean so close above them was even more terrifying. To Bassoon, a tapejara, it was a terrible experience. Being both underground and underwater were two things he thought impossible, yet here they were.
