Dino’s Included: Moss (4016) , Rin (3825)

The crashing of trees being slammed into one another followed by heavy footsteps and another set behind them a bit less heavy but more grown into as a large figure came to a stop catching his breath, followed by a smaller one who let out a playful roar when he caught up to Rin. Ever since Moss had stumbled across Rin in his early hatchling years the old male decided to keep the kid around and he was growing fast with each day Moss getting bigger and growing stronger, he would need to teach the young Alberto survival skills if he was ever to be successful and grow into a prime adult.

“You're still too fast for me Rin, would you slow down old man!” Moss said catching his breath as he shook out his feathers that had grown in much more the older he got, with a large amount on his head creating a crest. Rin let out an old rough laugh as he playfully nudged Moss before looking ahead and smelling the air, he was tracking something and that was something to hunt as Moss hadn’t had much practice with hunting and Rin was the one who provided them with food so today was the day the older Alberto would teach him how to hunt.

“What are we doing out here, isn’t this far from home?” Moss said looking around at the fast field that was before them, he hadn’t gone out to far unless it was with Rin but even then he would stay behind until Rin returned due to it being dangerous with other predators that lurked about, so today was all about new things and learning which made Moss a little on edge. Rin shifted his weight and looked at Moss before speaking “we are waiting for prey, you're learning how to hunt. The city isn’t a good spot. It's too cramped here we have an open field so watch carefully” he said hunkering down in which Moss copied nodding, he knew with Rin it was learn quickly or pay the price.

The two lay in wait as silence grew with it soon being broken at the sound of bushes rustling from the other side of the field and out poking a horn followed by a nervous honk, it was a young parasaur who seemed to have been separated from its herd. At this age they were easy to take down and Rin knew that as with the hotter weather around the last years clutches were now just growing into young dinosaurs and they were still learning so splitting up from the herd was a death wish for the young herbivore, but it provided an easy meal for Moss and Rin. Moss watched as the small parasaur made its way out into the open with careful steps as it sensed danger but couldn’t pin point where the two were.

“Whoa what’s that dinosaur, that’s a plantie right ?” Moss whispered, flaring his crest in excitement , in which he was shushed by Rin with a stern look.

“Yes it is now quiet, we need to wait for it to come closer” Rin said before locking eyes on the parasaur as it moved closer lifting its head up periodically before going back to grazing. Hunting was important and many things banked on it especially a hunters experience and in this case Rin was well experienced in his hunting skills learning the harsh reality of early age hunting on his own with most hunts being messed up and coasted due to stupid mistakes and he wanted to make sure Moss would be set up for success.

“Stay here and watch closely, do not come out till I say so” Rin said in which Moss nodded quickly before feeling a change in Rin’s stance, he was ready to attack and Moss could just feel the change instantly. With a quick burst Rin rampaged out of the tree’s right in the direction of the young parasaur who couldn’t even register what had happened due to Rin’s speed. With a large crunch Rin latched his jaws around the young herbivore and picked it up before shaking violently, ending its life quickly before dropping it on the ground and making sure the coast was clear before signaling for Moss to come out. Moss had watched the entire thing happen within a matter of seconds, hunting was that quick if done properly and he noticed that instantly in which he perked up at the scent of fresh blood.

“ Wow! That was quick it didn’t even see you coming Rin” Moss said as he made his way towards the dead parasaur, “that’s how you hunt! I wanna watch again,’ Moss said as Rin shook himself out before ripping into the belly and letting the good stuff fall out in which he laughed at Moss who was curious about the herbivore they had killed as it was his first time seeing one dead. Rin took his share and gulped it down before looking at Moss with a sigh “don’t play with it, eat” he said keeping watch as Moss finally decided it was time to try the new meal and he loved it as he dug in munching it down super fast his tail swaying behind him.

“We should hunt these more often!” He said between chewing and gulping “I know I’ll be the best hunter learning from you” he said. The two enjoying their meal with Rin laying down and having to listen to Moss talk about the hunt over and over with what he learned, young dinosaurs needed this to survive and if he hadn’t been taught it usually turned out bad for young carnivores but Moss would learn more and more from Rin until he was old enough to fend for himself, but for now he was still a juvenile and had lots to learn least hunting was out of the way for now. Rin let out a long sigh before the two would head back home for the night after they finished their meal.
