It was dark and the cold bone chilling nights were becoming worse and worse for Moss, a young Albertosaurus who had been abandoned when he was just an egg making his start to life already rough and trying to fend for yourself without the watchful eyes of parents was a harsh reality for the young carnivore. Moss made his way through a dark city with damp ground and rubble scattered everywhere, leaving him shivering and looking for a place to hunker down for the night with his feathers not fully grown in looking like a disgruntled goose if it lost half of its feathers.

The nights were typically the most dangerous on the island with tons of predators lurking on which a new hatchling would make an easy meal for most so staying out of site was the best chance of survival for Moss, so he quickly ducked behind the rubble at any sounds of noise coming from the tree line that surrounded the abandoned city keeping to the shadows when he needed to and out of the harsh cold. “This place seems more safe than the open forest … I hope” he chirped to himself as he ducked into a large abandoned building that’s entrance was wide open almost like a large mouth, he was sure he could find small places to hide for the night in here and being a hatchling his sense of danger was off and not the best, not knowing he was entering the lair of a sleeping beast who called the abandoned building home during the night. 

Once inside he fluffed out his feathers he did have and looked around, the place was stale and old smelling with the sounds of old creaking metal bars followed by water dripping through the cracked stone. Walking forwards Moss let out a chirp when he tripped over a large wire, taking a moment to register what had happened. “I should really watch where I'm going, this place seems not held together all too well” curious he said before approaching the thick wire that was lined with white and black scales. 

“Those look odd ..” he chirped but before he could even get his sentence out the wire that he thought was just an old piece of the structure moved as it slid into the shadows causing him to panic and stand still in fear as a low rumbling voice came from the shadows followed by a dark scaled mouth that knocked Moss over before speaking. 

“ little dangerous out here for a hatchling like you, where is your parents or clutch mates” the voice said before deep purple eyes peered from the darkness, followed by a shadow that stood over Moss who was stunned at the new comer who went by the name Rin, the old Alberto called this place his home during the night and rested here whenever he needed to not taking notice to Moss’s arrival due to being in a deep sleep.

“I’m sorry don’t eat me!, I don’t have any parents” Moss squealed out from his jaws as he hunkered to the floor. It was the first time the hatchling had seen his own kind and of course he ran into a scary one at that. “I’ll be leaving !” He added before scurrying to his feet and getting ready to take off, but was stopped when Rin lowered his head to him, he didn’t seem to want to eat Moss as the old timer had reared young of his own so he felt bad for Moss.

“I’m not going to eat you, besides you don’t have enough meat on you” Rin said letting out a rough chuckle moving his tail to the side as it let out a loud thump when it dropped onto the ground. “No parents, that's a rough start” he added. Moss was intrigued by Rin as he didn’t look anything like Moss, the large male didn’t have feathers he was scaled but Moss couldn’t help but feel a bit safe with the older Alberto so the hatchling stopped at Rin’s words. “Really you aren’t going to eat me, phew that’s a relief I thought I was a goner for sure” he chirped letting his head feathers come down once he relaxed. Everything felt right to the hatchling , being in the presence of Rin and the old male didn’t seem to mind Moss and was more focused on catching up on sleep.

“Well if you don’t mind, if I could stay with you” Moss asked shyly before waiting for an answer as Rin raised a brow at the request, in which he nodded and let out a sigh it had been awhile since he was around little ones and maybe having Moss around wouldn’t be the worst so he let out a grumble “fine but you have to listen to me, got it and don’t be to annoying” he said shifting his weight and laying his head down letting air through his nostrils. Moss gave a big toothy grin and jumped around in excitement, this beat trying to survive out by himself and getting to meet his own kind was also a step in the right direction even if he has to be quiet and keep it down. 

“Thank you ! I promise to be good!” He said making his way over to Rin and making himself right at home snuggling close to the larger male in which Rin moved slightly but was only met with Moss who looked up at him with wide eyes so there was no point in trying to keep his distance. Laying his head down Moss closed his eyes and finally was able to get the rest hatchlings needed at their early age, he would have to keep up and learn a lot from Rin as he got older but having come across Rin’s path was a good start and now it was time to catch up on the much needed rest.

Rin closed his eyes and twitched before going back to his sleep, now with a new add on into his daily life, the two seemed to have needed to meet one another and it would be a start to a brand new bond between the two.
