A hiss left the throat of Abandon as she snapped at a male cryo who wanted to try his advances on her in which he failed miserably and she was quick to remind him that courting season wasn’t always easy and she had no interest in him, with a quick flick of her tail she dashed off into the thick bushes. She had been approached by many male cryos and none that suited her fancy so she was off again on her own not knowing she was being followed by watchful eyes and a feathered cryo at that. 

Church had been following Abandon for most of the sticking to the shadows and away from her picking up on what she didn’t like from other males in hopes he would have a good shot at courting in if he watched what she didn’t like, collecting things as he went and the first thing he did was kill a small rabbit to bring to her as a gift that was hanging out of his jaws as he kept his distance.

“All these males know nothing about how to treat a lady” she growled as she jumped up on a high rock that baked in the warm sunlight with the rays hitting her black scales, followed by her red eyes scanning around her before letting out a sigh of annoyance. Church watched curiously as he straightened up his back before puffing out his feathers as he slowly left the shadows approaching Abandon slowly making his presence known with a small vocal cue that rumbled past his throat and out his mouth, which he was met with a swift look from Abandon who turned her attention on Church before she spoke.

“Seems like you have the right idea” she said letting out a hiss before she stood up and crouched down from the basking spot keeping her eyes on the rabbit meal that Church had in his mouth. He stopped and dropped the rabbit in front of him before bowing to Abandon who now was approaching a lot closer.

“My name is Church and I brought this for you as an offering” he said calmly before bowing again in which Abandon noticed his bowing and liked his approach on courting so far so good, she hadn’t ripped his throat out yet.

Abandon gave of a grin as she took the rabbit before gulping it down her throat and licking her jaws before she decided it was time to inspect Church as she normally never was courted by feathered cryos so it was a different thing to see in which she loved his pale feathers followed by deep pinkish eyes. Letting a few nips at him she came to a stop and nodded before speaking “well don’t you look good, I am enjoying what I’m seeing so far” she said hiding her face that was scarred up since she didn’t know if he would like it but it seemed like Church didn’t mind and it didn’t seem to bug him much.

“Well I’m glad you haven’t ripped my face off, I was a little worried” Church chuckled nervously, before calming down when Abandoned seemed more relaxed now that they had Introduced one another, Church had an idea to show off his nesting skills and he would use the spot Abandon was laying in as the main point for their nesting sight.

“I was hoping I would be able to show off some of my nesting skills, since that is important” he said before looking around them for sticks and various material he could use, not starting until Abandon agreed to see what he could do and bring to the table for when they nested, In which it had Abandon interested as she nodded in agreement as she sat back interested to see how Church would build the nest as she knew how important it was for when they had hatchlings. Church took her word quickly and he was quick to find larger sticks on the ground before picking them up with his jaws and climbing the rock she had been sitting on when they first met each other, and he began placing the sticks so they were sturdy before jumping down and returning with more material. 

“ what a great spot to pick, the eggs will be warm in the sun” Abandon said as she began to join in providing her own materials she found laying around which was dried up foliage, it was a material she had used before in previous nesting clutches and it worked well with keeping the eggs sturdy in the nest so they wouldn’t roll around when they swapped turns to watch it. Church smiled as he watched that Abandon was joining in on the nest building because that’s what he had wanted and it worked out well In his favour as he grabbed the heavier things and Abandon would return with smaller softer materials to be used, it showed great team work between the pair and that courting was going well.

After the final touches Church added he looked back at their work and smiled before looking at Abandon who took no time as she climbed back into the nest and sat down to test it out with her letting out a happy hiss. 

“Looks all sturdy and ready for eggs Church!” She called down to him before snuggling herself inside it further as her tail wrapped around herself waiting for Church to join her inside the nest in which he did quickly clawing his way up the rock to her. Church smiled and sat down beside Abandon and joined in on the cuddling to enjoy the nest.

“We make a good team it seems, I can’t wait to watch over our hatchlings when they eventually came into the world” Church said as he smiled before giving Abandon a lick on her cheek which she was quick to return the lick back to Church before the two snuggled with one another, it was now time to await for the eggs to come and they would have their claws full and be two very busy parents.
