Heavy steps crunched against the dirt as a large head sniffed the air, pale white eyes honing in on other tracks that were left in the dirt, Pitch black scales shifted as Haunt let out a loud grumble with air coming out of his nose taking in the scent from the leftover from the footprints. It was courting time for carnotaurs and Haunt had been tracking one particular female who went by the name of Sc0rn although finding her was posing to be a bit of a challenge. He had been tracking her for the past few days and he was getting closer but would lose or come short of her when he thought he was about to find her but today was different.

“Oh come out Sc0rn” he growled lowly hearing some rustling from some thicker trees in which he spotted the pale and dark face of the large female carno who went by Sc0rn, but instead of a cautious approach she rammed into Haunt and let out a hiss the two locking head horns and coming to a stand still. Both Carno’s let out growls before Haunt pushed back towards Sc0rn digging his feet in and pushing her back before the two broke off circling one another… it was a dance but sometimes courtship looked different for others and for these two it involved fighting to show off one another's strengths and weakness.

“Well that was a way to introduce yourself, impressive” Haunt scoffed and lowered his head towards Sc0rn who was sizing him up and was liking what this male brought to the table in terms of courting. The female decided to speak and let out a laughy hiss “Oh is that so, least I like what I see so far but let’s see how strong you really are or even worthy” Sc0rn said before flicking up dirt with her feet and lowering her head waiting for Haunt to mock her so the two could clash once again.

The two moved quickly and rushed towards one another with Haunt having his head lowered before Sc0rn was heavy on hitting him and he used her leverage against her with him side stepping her, Sc0rn became thrown off as she lunged forwards and fell face first into the dirt her tail coming up over her back end. Haunt looked behind him at Sc0rn before shaking his head and let out a laugh “Seems like we complement one another” before heading over to Sc0rn who shook her head of the dirt that had stuck to her scales.

“Well you played me, you win” Sc0rn said looking up at Haunt and let off an annoyed growl but gave a soft look at Haunt as he made his way over to Sc0rn and offered his head down for her to rest on it so she could get up in which Sc0rn took it giving Haunt a toothy grin. Now that the two had shown one another they suited each other for courting, it was now time to properly introduce themselves to one another.

“Glad you finally found me, I was getting worried” she said looking at Haunt as she playfully rubbed against his side. “So what’s your name , I am Sc0rn, would like to know who I'm courting with for the season’s name” she said letting out a laugh before waiting for Haunt to answer in which he was quick to introduce himself. He turned his head towards her and gave a smile “ Well the name is Haunt, and I would eventually” the much larger male said as they made their way around the dirted area.

“Well now that we are properly introduced I think we should start on picking a nesting spot, we are going to need a lot of room for the clutch that comes. Won’t be my first time”  she said before taking the lead and watched as Haunt nodded in agreement, he had fathered clutches before and knew how important the nesting stage was for the two and they were quick to get started with Haunt grabbing thick sticks and logs to place in the softened dirt, in which Sc0rn grabbed various rocks in her jaws before placing them around the sticks and nudging them to fit in the perfect spot. 

“This should be a nice spot, well protected” Sc0rn said looking to Haunt who was dragging more sticks over and placed them in the nesting area in which he stood back and nodded before walking towards Sc0rn and nudged her before nodding forwards towards the nest “well are you going to test it out, to see how we did?” He said waiting for his new partner to test out, Haunt wanted to make sure she was going to like it and it would be pristine for their soon to come hatchlings that would be here any day now and the new parents would have their jaws full. 

Sc0rn let out a gasp before she quickly listened before stepping forwards into the nest and moving her tail back and forth and letting out a loaf sound, she was content and the nest was comfy “It’s perfect Haunt, you picked some great sticks and it feels very protected, you come test it out!” she said looking up at Haunt who agreed before joining Sc0rn in the nest. The two had done a great job and complemented each other on one another's nest work and that they had worked as a great pair so far.

“I can’t wait till we have little horns running around” Haunt grumbled out before laying his head down and letting out a content sigh, eyeing the various stones that Sc0rn had picked and gave off a smile “You picked some great stones Sc0rn” he added before resting his eyes. Sc0rn smiled and laid her head ontop of Haunt and let out a restless grunt “ thank you Haunt, I can’t wait for our hatchlings. I am glad you found me” she said before also resting her eyes, the two snuggled in the new nesting area awaiting the arrival of their hatchlings.
