“Yuma where are you my dear, you know it’s that time of the season again” A large pale brown scaled utahraptor said as his purple eyes scanned around taking a sniff of the air before narrowing them with a grin. Yuma and Ra always courted one another each season and no other suitors ever caught their eyes, as they only had them for each other but that didn’t mean they didn’t try to court one another and Yuma definitely didn’t make it easy for the old male. He had been looking for her around their den they had reared many clutches in and the pale and light brown feathered Utah was nowhere to be found which threw some fun into their courting least they thought so. 

Out behind their den Yuma trotted across the grass her collar jingling as she trotted and jumped around letting out a giggly growl to herself “oh that old guy never learns does he, he will eventually catch on” she said before looking at a nice spot she had decorated for Ra in hopes he would like it just as much as she did, it was a nesting area covered in flowers that were white and pink just in time for spring, Ra was rough and brutal but never with her and she knew that he had a soft spot for those kinds of things. Yuma carefully added more flowers to the area waiting for Ra to realize where she had wandered off to but Ra had his own preparation to do as he was out in the bushes near their den looking for a meal to present to Yuma and it had to be the best of the best for her.

“Ah this should be good for her, just need to catch it” Ra said laying low and watching a deer further in the bush waiting to pounce at the right moment, a meal was always a good way to win her over and he just needed to catch it which would be easy for him since it was small. With quick reflexes Ra pounced on the deer, digging his claws into it and waiting till it stopped moving as he shook himself out before picking it up by the neck and dragging it towards hearing the voice of Yuma calling out to him.

“Ra! I am over here” she called out with a bark before hearing the sound of something being drug towards her before spotting Ra’s black and pale markings before looking at the deer down on the ground that he dropped looking up to see Yuma with a smile.

“Oh Ra you didn’t have to do that for me, always out doing yourself for me” she said with a giggle and watched as he approached her with a piece in his jaws before letting her take it gently from him. She quickly downed it and licked her jaws before nuzzling against Ra in which he did back to her before looking past her seeing the nesting area decorated with the pink and white flowers.

“Well what do we have here? Did you do some decorating to impress me, Yuma?” he said letting out a chuckle before looking closer as she lit up at his reaction. Before Ra sniffed the flowers and carefully looked at the comfy bedding along with sniffing the flowers which made him sneeze. 

“Do you like it?” she said smiling and joined him before sitting down next to it and taking another piece of meat from the deer and enjoying it “It will be a great place for our hatchlings I think” she added before fluffing up her feathers, Ra turning around and smiling at her before nodding and giving an answer to her.

“Yes I love it Yuma! Very impress and I think it will be a great place for the hatchlings” Ra said before sitting down next to her and enjoying the meal as well, they were excited for the arrival of the soon to come hatchlings and they always wanted to be parents but earlier courtship years never ended in a good ending for the pair but this year was different.

The two enjoyed one anothers company like always and happy that courting one another came easy and another season was just another chance for them, Yuma licking Ra’s back scales softly before Ra returned the favor and nuzzled his face into her fluffy feathers making sure not to wreck her collar. The nest was well made and Yuma was good about it over the years always making sure there was extra effort as she wanted it perfect and Ra always provided a meal to her while they courted and it was her favorite every time.

“I am glad you always make the nest area special Yuma” he said quietly before closing his eyes and dozing off slowly content with his partner, Yuma smiled and chuckled softly “getting this meal for me was tiring huh” she added before looking at the nest and nodding in agreement, she was always over the top but never for Ra and she held that close to her heart always. The warm sun beat down as they basked and enjoyed one another to the full max knowing that when hatchlings arrived they would have their claws full but for now some peace and quiet never hurt and they had a few days to fully prepare. The two utahs dozed off hearing the slight barking of many others in full swing of the courting season, barks and returning barks echoing across and around them but Ra and Yuma were happy where they picked and to court away from everyone else making it easy and simple without the hardships that courtship brought sometimes.

“I can’t wait for our hatchlings Ra, they will be perfect” Yuma said softly before letting out a final yawn and dozing off with an already sleeping Ra as her tail wrapped around their nesting area, it finding its way intertwined with Ra’s

The two enjoyed the peace and quiet with one another wrapped around their nest now awaiting the arrival of hatchlings that would call out to them eventually from the nest that Yuma had built. Courtship season was easy for them and they were glad that it was that easy for them, Ra gave a sleepy smile and yawned once more before getting lost in Yuma’s scent.
