Under the Trees
A flock of raptors rests within the trees, small, but fierce; they do just as they please.
Long tails and sharp teeth, they do not now bear; talons they do, but they don't quite tear.
Not quite like their larger relatives of old, but that doesn't make them any less bold.
Meat of all kinds, they'll so gladly take; mice, rats, birds, even the odd snake.
And dare not trouble a hen sitting on eggs, else a rage rivaling rex will be engaged.
Raptors they are, through and through; if they were big enough, they'd hunt me and you.
Be happy they are as small as they are; just imagine, a chicken... the size of a car...
