A Kind Stranger

Brego had experienced a series of unfortunate circumstances in early life that left him very much alone as a hatchling. He was fortunate to be large enough to make it without his mother's guidance and protection, but it was a huge learning curve figuring out how to fend for himself and survive. He didn't have much memory of his mother or his clutch mates. Maybe a stray scent here or a brief glimpse there, but any time he tried to form an image in his mind, it fell short. The loneliness for such a young dinosaur could be crushing at times, but Brego was a particularly spirited young guy, and it never lasted for long. He was making his way, scavenging and foraging as instinct had taught him; he was making a life for himself little by little, but he wasn't out of the woods by any means. Dangers lurked behind every corner and in every shadow. A lesson he would have to learn at some point. It would either kill him or he'd become aware soon enough. Fortunately, for Brego, the first time he came across another living dinosaur, it happened to be another Styracosaurus. A large bull, that stared down at the stray youngster with kind eyes.  He could see the strength and power in such a large adult. Awe-struck and full of joy to finally not be alone, Brego, in all of his inexperience, ran right up to the stranger, apple still in his mouth. Fortunately for him again, the bull was compassionate and greeted him kindly. While Brego was not outright adopted, he was given a lesson on survival. Something he sorely needed if he was gonna continue to make it on his own. A warning of caution that he took very much to heart. We can't say for sure if the talk is the exact reason Brego continued to survive, but it certainly helped, and the entire experience had offered the youngster a whole lot of hope for his own future. He couldn't wait to become big and strong, like the kind stranger who offered him guidance.
