Winter had rolled in early and harshly but there was a break in the cold weather to where the carnival that always popped up by other dinosaurs came alive, along with it came the Geminids meteor shower and it was something to never miss when it was around especially at night time regardless of it being chilly and cold to the bone. For many it was a reoccurring event that they had seen time and time

Again while for others it was the first time they had ever seen it since their hatchling days and Dread was one of them as he trucked through the thick

Snow his scale plating caked in it mostly.

Dread and stuck to the alpha labs where he was born mostly and only started adventuring to the surface when the snow had first hit the ground along with the talk about the carnival and meteor  shower, he just had to experience it for himself even if he didn’t like the cold. It was getting dark and the sound of the carnival could be heard as he headed towards the many voices and bellows of dinosaurs enjoying themselves, blending in with the snow due to his pale scales.

Winter brought the darkness quickly with each day getting shorter and shorter but that’s what was great about this time of year it allowed the carnival to thrive and each dinosaur never missed it and with all the talk Dread was interested as he made his way to the noise that echoed out loudly, he wasn’t sure why it was so important or celebrated and he was about to find out with snow falling from the sky and his footprints left behind. 

In a small dense area Dread spotted what it seemed to be decorations of some kind that were strung along the trees along with snow sculpture like things that stood tall in the snow, it seemed he had found the carnival grounds along with many other dinosaurs who were down celebrating it in waiting for the meteor shower to happen.

“Excuse me” a voice was heard as a large herbivore pushed past Dread who moved out of the way quickly, it was a pair of theri’s who were making their way to the carnival and brought things in their claws to contribute shaking of the snow from their feathers as they walked past Dread who was curious. More dinosaurs poured in talking about the showers and the icy and winter feel as the once green forest area now was white and icy.

“The meteor showers are starting soon, come watch the stars” someone called out as others moved over slowly with Dread following behind as he took in the carnival grounds and winter feel it brought, the sky was dark now and others seemed ready and excited of the arrival of the showers that were to come with everyone moving to an open area so others could watch with the much smaller dinosaurs upfront and the larger ones in the back.

“Whoa that’s a lot of dinosaurs” he said under his breath and moved aside dodging being stepped on or pushed over, but Dread moved to the front up by some much smaller raptors who seemed to know a lot of about the Geminids showers as they barked about how they saw it last season and how fun the carnival was once they started. 

“So what are we waiting for” Dread said quietly as he felt the gaze of others look at him “this is my first time here” he added before staying silent. 

“The stars! Of course you silly thing!” One Utahraptor said stepping forwards and looking at Dread who was then nudged by another who also spoke loudly “the sky gets dark and these stars fly across the sky making a very beautiful sight, it happens every season” they said before looking up at the dark sky.

“Oh I see, so we wait” Dread said before looking up at the sky wanting to now see whatever was going to happen even if he thought the Utahs were loud, it seemed like they knew what they were talking about and I guess having some patience would help, many heads looked above as they waited for the moment of the dark sky to fill with color.

“Here it comes!” A larger dinosaur roared out as the once dark sky now flared with light followed by many other smaller objects “ the meteor shower is here!” Another one added. 

Dread’s eyes widened as he watched the dark sky burst with colors and from all directions, the shower had started and it was magnificent, nothing like he had seen before or anything compared in the labs where he lived in the darkness. 

“Whoa look at all the colors, they are moving so fast” he barked with excitement as others roared in happiness and uproar it wasn’t until this happen did the carnival really feel real and upbeat, so it seemed important for this to happen least so Dread thought as he looked at the Utahs who stood beside him as they barked and cheered jumping up and down.

Large stars, small stars all sizes of meteors mixed together came across the sky and disappeared without a trace with the watching mostly done as others who had enough moved towards the carnival with some dinosaurs staying to watch the shower in full until it was done. Dread was one of them as he continued to watch the meteors fall as stars began to fill the sky and the cold no longer bothering him as he believed it was worth it to deal with the cold on his scales to witness this.

“Guess it’s time for the carnival area, looks like everyone is enjoying it, I’ll never forget this shower” he said to himself watching the other two Utahs wander over to enjoy the festival like party, besides it was like nothing he ever experienced in the labs everything was new at a first time

Thing for dread and besides it looked like the shower was to carry on longer as the sky still lit up with meteors flying across it.

Snow covered the ground and dinosaurs carried trinkets they had gotten from others giving them out, with Dread enjoying the lively aura that the carnival was giving, others playing games and enjoying time together with one another. Being in the lab Dread had never expected the surface world to have anything like this where he came from most dinosaurs were killed to survive and seeing everyone together was odd. 

Dinosaurs handed him things in which he declined and kept a low profile and admired from afar by just enjoying the carnival by being present and that was enough for him, it had gotten dark now and was getting late with others wrapping up their final goodbyes and the meteor shower calming down.

Dread smiled before trailing off and thinking to himself, he was glad he stuck around as he would have missed the Geminids shower and it was truly a sight to behold and not just to hear about it, along with being apart of the carnival and seeing other dinosaurs enjoying themselves even if it was winter he would be coming back next season too view them again.
