Magical Mole Box

Selune peered at the moving moles with mild distaste. Surely this was not an ideal pastime for others of her kind. She swiveled her head around at the crowd that had gathered around the booth. Mirth sparkled in the eyes of those around her like the meteorites that had crashed down not even a day before. The freakishly large eyes of the moles followed her every move. Their looks sent shivers down Selune's spine and straight into her tail. Which she immediately flicked to clear any ill curse cast upon her. The machine in front of her was daunting at worst. A red number flashed on the screen, a proud 47 written in the old language of the humans. Her mother had once told her about the feckless species that predated dinosaurs. She found an utter distaste in the subject matter – but was intrigued by their numbers. She always thought it was odd that most humans advanced their counts in 5s, but thought it especially odd that the game appeared to follow the same pattern. Every mole pushed down caused another 5 to be added to the blinking red total. It was of no matter. There were better things to do anyway, like calculate where the space rocks had landed... that was until she saw a Pachycephalosaurus with a more feathery build approach the booth.

His light lilac dome glinted in the low lights of the museum, causing Selune to crane her head – then abruptly stop. The coloration was unique – especially amongst the sea of more dull colored Pachys around her. His feathers were also an abnormality within her kind; however she refused to show interest in this childish human machine and those who engaged with it! Or at least... that was the plan. Whispers had started to turn into cheering. From what Selune could gather, they were sayingBrony? No... maybe.. Phony? Oh,Tony! Selune observed the individual who had caught her eye (presumably the Tony in question) flicking his feathered tail, bowing his head above the machine. Selune turned her head, trying to show her distaste, but kept one eye trained on the individual.

How was one supposed to even participate in the wretched game?

A loud clang and thud resounded, almost as if to answer her question. Tony had slammed his dome into the red button on the front of the machine. Warm blinking lights happily greeted the crowd, lighting up in sequential patterns while the red number on the machine decremented to 0. Selune couldn't disguise her intrigue anymore. She shoved through the crowd and stood at the shore of the sea of bodies. Tony looked to be a spry individual at least, he bounced from leg to leg as he readied his crown above the machine. That caused Selune to pause... where did the horrendous moles go? Did they disappear? She tried to crane her neck to get a better look at the inner workings of the machine. She spotted the head of a mole right beneath where Tony had rested his own. She stretched as far as she could, working to get a good angle on the game, but was startled at a resounding hum of metal come to life. The crowd went silent and Selune could feel her heart galloping in her chest, trying to flee far from the spectacle she had found herself wrapped up in. She felt her weight involuntarily shift to her back leg, priming her to leave if she so desired. A robotic voice echoed through the room:

'G o * d L u ck F 0 l ks ! H 1 t as many M0l e z as y0u! Can - - - 3 ... 2... 1... GO!'
