A sunset to remember

The dark brown and black utah looked back at the odd pair of oviraptors as they walked down the streets he called his home ground. They were Liljekonvalj and Hulda, sisters of Brunhilda, who was a recent partner of his own sister, Fudge.
With a smile and barely audible scuff, Wesker turned his red gaze forward again, he was starting to feel like their family was growing comically large at this point. While he definitely didn’t mind the company of any of his sister’s partners, seeing their family tag along and move over felt somewhat excessive, but he was willing to give them a chance. It’s not like any of them lived in the city ruins with him anyway.

“So this is where you live?” the Liljekonvalj asked Wesker, who at first just chuckled as a response.
“More or less. I have a lair but it’s not in our immediate vicinity. I figured I would show you all the grand spectacle of this place.” he said, and the two oviraptor sisters nodded eagerly.
“It sounds exciting.” Hulda chimed in. “I have never seen a place quite like this before. Though we did have some ruins down in Atlantis, nothing comes remotely close to this scale.”
“Perhaps I’ll have you show me what it’s like down there. I only visited briefly but to say most inhabitants were hostile would be an understatement.” Wesker said, thinking back to how he had been treated but euoplos and iguanodons alike. He shuddered. “Vile creatures, those things..”
Hulda smiled apologetically, not that it was her fault they had been hostile, but she still felt a sense of guilt. Liljekonvalj felt less bothered, as she knew and accepted that she had no way to change the past and none of it had been her doing.

The three of them moved along, and approached a tall building. It was a very worn down skyscraper, and about a fifth of it had been overgrown and covered by vines and ivy, as well as some other plants and moss here and there.
Hulda was very fascinated, down in Atlantis no building had been this high, considering the confined space, so just seeing how high they had to climb to reach the top felt both exciting and daunting. She looked over at Liljekonvalj who silently started up and down the building for a while before speaking.
“So, how would one get up on this thing?” she asked, looking over at their utah guide. “I want to see what  everything looks ike from above.”
“We have to climb up from the inside.” Wesker explained as he walked up the last few meters to the building and pushed the door open. “Come in, I’ll show the way.”
The two oviraptors went inside, and Wesker followed, before walking past them to take the lead up the stairs.

After what felt like an eternity of climbing stairs, they finally emerged on the rooftop of the skyscraper. The door had fallen off its hinges a long time ago, so they didn’t even have to open anything up to see the bright blue sky at the top.
Hulda rushed closer to the edge, but was careful to keep her distance so as to not fall off. A fascinated “Woah..” left her mouth without her even realising, and Liljekonvalj smiled as she slowly walked up to her sister to take in the view as well. The almost burning red sky felt both ominous and beautiful, seeing the city ruins from this high up. It was a very memorable view for sure, and the two sisters would surely never forget it.

Wesker walked to the opposite side of the roof and sat down close to the edge, looking towards the city outskirts towards the direction where his friend, Smelt, usually approached from. He was almost hoping that he would see her waltz in so he could call out to her, he chuckled as he envisioned her shocked reaction to see him at the top. She would be livid and worried sick, surely.
His thoughts were, however, interrupted as he heard small ovi steps behind him. He looked back and saw Hulda, who now looked out towards the fields like he did before.
“Do you like it? The view.” he asked, and immediately clarified.
“It is breathtakingly beautiful with the sunset.” Hulda replied. “But it’s also a little scary. I don’t want to think about what would happen if we fell..”
“Yeah.. Best not to.” Wesker chuckled. “I am glad you like it though, we should show your sister and brother some day too.”
“We should, yes.” Hulda agreed before looking back over at Liljekonvalj, who she had left on the other side.
“I appreciate you taking us here tonight. She often isolates herself, trying not to be a bother. She deserves to feel free too.” Hulda said, with a somewhat sad tone.
Wesker looked over at the pale ovi as well. He could understand her, somewhat. She looked different from her siblings, stood out a lot due to her colour, perhaps she had made herself an outcast much like Wesker himself had done.
“I am sure being out on the surface will do her good.” Wesker assured Hulda. He could tell that she was worried about her sister.

While the other two were conversing, Liljekonvalj laid silently but a few meters from the edge. She was very fascinated by the abandoned city. She wondered what it had been like in the past, she wondered about those who built this place and lived here.
Some birds flew by, and Liljekonvalj observed them as well. She wished she could fly, sometimes, so she could see more of the world. But she was also happy being here, with her family.
After taking in the impressive view for a few more minutes, her curiosity had been sated for now, so she got up and approached Hulda and Wesker.
“Should we head back down?” she asked as she scratched her scruffy neck with one of her feet.
“Sounds like a good plan. Did you enjoy the view?” Wicked replied as he got up.
Liljekonvalj nodded with a smile. She was very happy with this little sightseeing trip, but she was unsure how to express her gratitude to Wesker.
“It is very nice. I would love to come back.” she said.
Wesker nodded, smiling back at her. “You’re always welcome here, I don’t own the city or anything.” he laughed.
Both Hulda and Liljekonvalj snickered at his comment.
“I appreciate it, thank you.” Liljekonvalj said before walking towards the door to leave. “Shall we?”
