[Gift] Seasonal | Don't Fall | New Experiences
The air on top of one of the big buildings was just different. Sera took a big breath of the fresh winds as she stood at the edge of the roof. It had a high wall around it so she felt rather safe as she leaned towards it, placing her claws on it. The wind almost seemed to whistle as she stood there. Watching the area around them. She had wanted to climb the highest building for a while. To get higher and higher up in the city. But now she had finally managed to do it.
One of the doors had been locked for a long while on the sixth floor. She had tried many times to get past it. She even tried to go through different rooms and apartments in the skyscraper. But to no avail. And then finally she met Meatball and Misa who had managed to somehow unlock the door that had been troubling Sera for so long. They had met on one of the smaller skyscrapers. Daredevils quite like she who seeked the higher grounds. The thrill of feeling as if one wrong step could bring them down. It was exhilarating. The world looked so small but you could see so much of it as you stood on the high roofs.
“Do you think this is what the flying dinosaurs and birds feel like?” Meatball joined her side and stretched her arms as wide as she could as she let the air grab her.
“It has to be.” Misa looked over the edge, carefully watching birds fly between the different skyscrapers around them. Cars looked like dots on the streets from their height. “Imagine feeling like this every day.” She hummed as the strong wind twisted her feathers. “I would never get bored of this feeling.”
“Me neither.” Sera added thoughtfully, a smile carried on her face. “Sometimes I sleep on these roofs, when the weather is good and they have walls quite like this.”
“Wow. We’ve never actually tried that.” Meatball admitted.
“Yhea, no we mostly head down, or sleep inside. It’s one thing to be up here when it’s light outside. But when it gets dark.” Misa didn’t finish the sentence and instead only shuddered at the thought of the pitch black air.
“It’s not for everyone.” Sera added, her tone was not judging them as if them never sleeping on a roof was as bad as they themselves made it seem. “I love watching the stars. I imagine I am so close to the sky up on top of these big houses that I can practically touch the stars. I know it is not true. But sometimes imagining that makes me feel at peace with the world and everything it offers.
“That does sound really cool.” Meatball shifted her gaze over to Misa who kept looking down on the streets and passing birds. Even a few flying dinosaurs swept between the buildings. Playing some sort of game of chase with each other as they dodged each other mid air. “Do you think the stars will be seen today?” Meatball turned her head towards the sky. There were clouds up there, but otherwise the sky offered a light blue, almost cloudfree autumn day.
“Mmh,” Sera also looked up at the sky, watching the clouds slowly, slowly move above them. “It is hard to say. The clouds can move really fast when they want to.” Misa lifted her gaze from the ground and placed her gaze on Sera. “But if it doesn’t get cloudier than this we could see all the stars.” Sera gave a nod as she finished the sentence, turning her gaze to the other two.
“It is a bit cold.” Misa said, buffing up her feathers. “If we do it…” She lingered on the thought and held both Meatball and Sera in suspense. “Can we do it in the middle, away from the edge and bring blankets?”
“Of course! That is the best way.” Sera nodded. Meatball looked delighted.
“Should we go down and see what we can find immediately?” Meatball had already moved away from the edge and headed towards the stairs that lead back down to the different apartments under them. Clearly very intrigued by the idea of staying up on the roof all night.
“In the worst case scenario, if it does get too cold, we can always go back inside again.”
“Right, right.” Meatball was already making her way into the stairway as both Sera and Misa followed her.
“That is true. Or if it gets a bit too dark as well perhaps.” Misa asked, her question hinting at her uncertainty about the combination of darkness and height.
“Absolutely.” Sera answered her in hopes of making her feel secure. “If anything feels bad we will all head inside again.”
