Brunhilda & Loke | Kapro

The muted brown oviraptor with a darker belly was happily trotting along, heading out of Atlantis with her brown, spotted brother Loke by her side. She was going to introduce him to her girlfriend, Muffin, and then had plans to show her around her previous home in Atlantis. Moving out of there had been bittersweet, but she knew that her place was out here, on the surface, with her new family.
“I promise you Loke, you will love her!” Brunhilda happily chipped as they finally reached the surface and got hit by the cool, autumn air and moderately warm sun.
“I believe you, your judgement is usually pretty trustworthy.” her brother smiled. He was very happy that his sister had found someone besides him and their other sisters that she truly enjoyed the company of , he was happy that she was finally starting to thrive.
A short walk later and the oviraptor duo pushed through some bushes, only for Brunhilda to happily squeal as she reached the other side. Loke was slightly behind and couldn’t immediately see what the fuss was about, but he assumed her girlfriend was waiting for them there.
“Muffin!!” Brunhilda yelled as she threw herself into the much larger herbivore’s arms.
Loke got out of the bush and shook off some leaves before looking up and he almost felt as if his soul left his body for a second, Muffin towering way over him with claws almost the length of half his body.
“What is that..?” he managed to croak out through being stunned by shock.
Brunhilda and Muffin both looked over at him.
“It’s Muffin!” Brunhilda happily chirped as she snuggled into Muffin’s warm feathered coat.
“But what is she?” Loke then clarified as he tried to regain his composure.
“She’s my girlfriend, silly!” Brunhilda chuckled. “Come on, I want to show you our old home!” she added and gestured for Muffin to come with them, back from where they came.
“Never mind..” Loke mumbled to himself before putting on a smile, trying to hide his fear.
“I’m Loke, nice to meet you. My sister has been telling me very good things about you, and I’m very glad to hear you’ve treated her so well.” the collared fawn ovi said with warmth in his somewhat shaky voice.

Muffin was a patient creature – even if she, like now, was worked up with excitement – and waiting for her partner to return was no problem for her. She sat at the soft moss, waiting patiently in the chilly air, letting her thoughts wander. She wondered, like many times before, what Brunhilda’s family was like, she couldn’t imagine them as any less nice and friendly than Brunhilda herself. How could they be? She wondered briefly if they would like her, or if they would be afraid, like so many else.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of talking, and small steps approaching. Muffin immediately rose to her feet, opening her arms at the exact moment the little tan oviraptor broke through the bushes. Enveloping the much smaller dino in her huge arms as she threw herself into her embrace, a smile immediately spreading across her face.
“Brunhilda” she replied to her greeting in her low voice, much lower than most other females she knew. But still soft and warm. Especially for her partner. Her eyes travelled to the other oviraptor who followed her partner through the branches. He was almost the exact same shade as Brunhild, just a few points lighter, with darker brown markings. He looked shocked, almost frozen to the spot in stunned silence as his gaze landed on Muffin. Her smile faltered only a little, she was used to these kinds of responses. The shock, but even worse, the fear. Her sheer size gave enough pause to most carnivores, but her claws put even fear into the largest of them.
She chuckled at Brunhilda’s less than helpful, but very enthusiastic, replies to her brother’s questions. “We’re called Therizinosaurus” she added helpfully with a warm tone to the low voice. “And you needn’t worry, we’re herbivores” she carefully lifted one of her clawed hands pointedly “These are for foraging, and defence, only”
She couldn’t help but to smile again at his words. It warmed her that Brunhilda spoke warmly about her when she wasn’t there.
“How could I treat her with any less than all the warmth she brings?” She gazed down at her partner with eyes brimming with her adoration, before looking back at Loke.
“I’ve only heard good things about you as well”
Brunhilda threw her arms up and waved them dismissively ‘come on! We don’t have all day” her voice was amused though, and she started to move back the way her and Loke had come from, looking back to see if her partner, and her brother were following. Muffin nodded and gestured with her giant hand for Loke to go first. The two siblings were the ones who knew the way after all.
It didn’t take too long, even though Muffin had duck plenty of times along the way, the path the siblings had chosen was not exactly meant for dinosaurs her size, even if she could clearly tell they tried to pick paths better suited for her, and not the small shortcuts they could usually take when they didn’t have a giant to show around. Suddenly the path before her opened up a little, and she could see a large building, even large enough for her to fit in. Brunhilda had excitedly explained things they had passed, and Loke had chimed in with additions, or corrections, more and more as he seemed to loosen up and calm down from his initial fear.
The two oviraptors entered the building without hesitation, and Muffin had to shake off her wonder and follow them to not be left behind. While she was sure Brunhilda would come back for her if she noticed she had not followed her in, but Muffin trusted her, if she was sure nothing inside would harm her, she believed that too. She lightly ducked her head and entered the building, following Brunhilda and Loke towards some stairs in the back corner of the room. Muffin was not built for heights, and even just scaling the first two floors of the stairs was enough for her to feel it in her core. Loke and Brunhilda did not seem to have the same issue and were talking merrily ahead of her. She herself was more focused on putting her giant feet down safely on the stairs that creaked ominously beneath her weight. They were obviously not made for someone quite her stature or size.
“Hey wait for Miss Big and Slow back here” she teased her partner as she rounded a corner with her brother, trying to hold back her nervous tone. Brunhilda had gotten caught up in their conversation, and therefore did not notice her girlfriend lagging behind.

Brunhilda was so eager to show Muffin the view from the rooftop that it escaped her mind that she was in fact much larger and would hence struggle to get around quite a bit more than her and Loke. She nervously laughed when Muffin asked her to slow down so she could catch up.
“I'm sorry, I forgot that you are much bigger for a second.” Brunhilda apologised and Loke just snorted, amused by his sister's enthusiasm.
“We are almost at the top, you can do it Muffin.” Loke encouraged, as he scuttled up the stairs ahead of the two girls with comically wide steps.
Well on the rooftop, they looked out over the glade that was once the two oviraptors home, along with their siblings and parents. The view was rather impressive, and all of the dangerous plants seemed so harmless and beautiful from afar, like they couldn't even harm a fly, but the three of them knew better.
While Brunhilda looked at her girlfriend in anticipation to hear her thoughts of their childhood home, she was rather taken aback when she instead started by stating “Couldn't we just have walked there on the ground?”, because while she was of course correct, the thought had never even struck Brunhilda.
Loke burst out in a cackling laughter as his sister looked puzzled, and he could barely breathe for a moment.
“You always find the most complicated solutions, sister!” he wheezed as he finally regained his composure.
“Meanie! I uh.. I just wanted her to see it better, that's all!” the bow flustered Brunhilda stuttered in her defense. “If we were down on the ground, how would she be able to see everything at once!?”
Loke chuckled as he patted his sister on her back.
“You're right, you're right. My bad.” he snorted. “I'm sure she loves the view though, despite the struggle to get up.”
