They had climbed for a while now, up the side of the mountain. Out of all five of them the only one that actually seemed to enjoy the climb was the young raptor. She would run ahead of her four Styra dads and then when she thought they took way too long she would run back to them in a huff telling them to hurry up and also start running, something none of them planned on doing.

“Be careful!” Brick yelled after her as they once again saw the light coloured tabby raptor run up the path that led to the mountain top. At least they would soon be at the top. It would be the last time they would reach this mountain top because none of the styras would ever traverse the steep path again. They all pride themselves on being able to walk far but that was on mostly even ground with only hills and valleys. But when Camille, the young raptors had told them about the amazing view that a few travellers had told her about and how she wanted to see it they couldn’t say no. Although they wish they had let her go by herself when they got to the most steep part of the path for sure.

“I wish I had her energy.” Fell, a mostly grey styra with green tabby markings, said as he exhaled a heavy sigh. “She sure doesn’t know how to take a break.”

“Kassadin. I blame you.” Brick said in a clearly false accusatory tone. “It is clear from you that she has inherited this need for never resting.”

The wine-red styra was slightly ahead of the other three. He chuckled but didn’t slow down either. “If she inherited this from me then she inherited her thick skull from you cantaloupe.”

“What did I say?” The yellow styra exclaimed at the back of the line, he had the most issues with the climb but he would be the last one to stop - he always had a tendency to keep going. All the jabber was said in a loving tone. The four styra had at this point known each other for long and formed their own pack even before becoming dads to the young raptor.

Before anyone could retaliate towards the joking accusations with their own they heard a slight scream ahead of them. “Camille!” Everyone exclaimed as they all sped up the last part of the path. She was standing at the top, looking out over the view that the mountain provided.

“Look at it! It’s amazing!” She exclaimed as Kassadin was first to join her.
“Don’t scare us like that.” He let out a snort as he spoke in an attempt to calm his own nerves.
“But look dads! Look!” None of the styra’s looked at the view until all four of them had had a chance to look over their daughter and make sure for themselves that she had in fact not been hurt, every one exclaiming over how they thought for sure that she had managed to get hurt or fallen.

When they were all sure that she was not hurt they all looked out over the view. It was amazing. There was a valley just underneath where a big river moved its way through as a snake through the grass. They could almost make out small dots moving - perhaps it was their imagination, but it looked as if herds of other dinosaurs were grazing in the valley. They could even see the sea in the distance. It seemed to go on forever as it met the sky. Engulfing each other in an endless blue only disturbed by the few clouds that slowly made their way across the sky.

All five of them stood for a while, only watching. Cantalpupe, Brick, Fell and Kassadin all made sure to stand as close to their daughter, Camille, as possible in case she got the idea to walk closer to the edge of the mountain. It wasn’t for a lack of trust. They just wanted to be careful.

“It was worth the climb.” Fell said as his gaze moved over the sight.
“Disagree. Partly at least.” Cantaloupe said, still a tiny bit out of breath. He was the oldest of the five after all. It wasn’t surprising that it would take him slightly longer to recover.
“It’s true that I would not do it again,” Brick too couldn’t take his eyes off the amazing view, it was like nothing he had ever seen before, “but I do disagree, the climb was worth it.” He nudged Cantaloupe’s shoulder with his beak.
“But the greater question is, is it worth the climb back down?” Kassadin snickered as he imagined all five of them struggling to get down the same path they just struggled to climb up.
“It’s easier down, isn’t it?” Camille asked with a puzzled look on her face.
“It’s easier down,” Fell nodded as he spoke, “It’s also easier to fall down for us. We are a bit less agile than you.”

Camille let out a big Ah

“Don’t worry dads! I will make sure to catch you all if you trip. I am super fast and like, super strong too!” She made a little jump as she spoke, to show how fast she could react, causing all her dads hearts to beat just a bit faster in their chests at the thought that she was going to run around as well.
