Murky Waters & Green Goo! [Autumn 2025 - Quest]

Ant stopped at the edge of the hole leading down underground, lowering his head to get a better view down below. It seemed a bunker had gone under to the pressure of the recent storm flood and opened up, it was dead quiet down there and he could barely see anything from his point of view. He had been taught to leave these old ruins behind and yet here he stood, too curious for his huge body. As he started to walk down into the ruins, the mud beneath his feet was sloppy and he used a little extra energy to not just slide into the ruins.

Ant made it to the bottom and had ended up in this huge room, it was filled with tall shelves filled with glass jars, boxes with lids with odd scribbles on them and some lights were still blinking every other second from the bulbs above him. He remained mostly quiet as he slowly started to walk between the massive shelves, the water in the lab went to his knees and the temperature of it definitely confirmed his idea that winter was coming.

He walked slowly as he was trying to decipher what all the different jars contained beside yellow/greenish liquids. “This place gives me goosebumps.. “ Ant said in a low whisper as he proceeded from the shelves and made it closer to a bigger doorway, the door was hanging in the hinges, which was quite insane compared to these doors being of massive steel. A bright green light was shining in the room ahead and low bubbles could be heard. “Hmm..” Ant stood for a moment watching the light ahead before turning his head slightly to look at the bright light of the outside shining down into the Lab from the world outside.

“A little peek can’t hurt.” His voice was rather calm, he had never been too scared of these abandoned places because they were always empty beside creepy crawlies and rats.

He walked up and slowly started pushing through the broken door and into the room with the green light, it was here he took a sudden halt as the sight ahead was like nothing he had seen before. Tall cylinder containers from floor to roof, filled with a thick green substance and.. and deformed.. odd.. creatures.
His breath had turned short and sharp as he was almost tip toeing the area, not able to take his eyes of the huge cylinder containers, three were lined up in a row, each with its own terrible looking deformity.

They didn’t seem alive but the creepy floating they were doing creeped him out. He did a shake with his whole body, trying to shake off some of the goosebumps. “Thank god they don’t roam around..” He shook his head in disbelief before turning his attention to the other side of the room and- well.
Corpses.. or well, skeletons so to speak.

The skeletons might once have been neatly arranged into shapes or the smaller ones beautifully displayed on the shelves but in the current state almost all of them had grumbled and were laying in the murky cold water that had been brought in with the hole in the other room.

He slowly inched forward towards the bones, some were floating slightly in the water while others had been fully submerged in the murky waters. He had seen skeletons before, it was quite common for those pesky carnivores to leave their dinners behind and letting nature do the rest but Ant had never seen so many skeletons in one place, this could not be a carnivore or rather he hoped not.

A loud screech suddenly rang the facility, getting carried through the vents as a loud sharp noise, enough to make Ant crouch slightly for a moment as the scare got to him. “What the-“ He frowned lightly as he raised his head to look up at the nearby went. “What was that?”. The noise wasn’t like any dinosaur he had ever heard and more like metal giving in and rubbing against each other.

His gaze shifted as he noticed the water around his legs started to sink quite rapidly and more noises started to come from the facility. Within very few moments the ground under him started to make crackling noises and the roof above him did the same. “The facility.. It’s going to collapse!” Reality his him, the storm flood had brought too much water into the facility and the structure could not handle the humidity nor the weight.

Ant quickly gathered himself and started to rush for the door once again, only making it to it as he heard a loud crack behind him before the sounds of glass shattering and loud oozing noises as one of the green cylinders started to spray out its liquid due to the cracks in the glass.

He set into a full-on bolt through the storage room, knocking down a few of the tall shelves with jars on them while sprinting towards the light from above, shining in through the hole. Just exactly managing to crawl his way up and out of the hole as the rooms below him collapsed and pushed out plenty air and event sent some murky water and mud flying.

He stood shocked as he watched the hole in front of him completely covered up, never had he been happier to feel the grass beneath his feet. “Never again.” Ant assured himself before turning tail, he had some mud to wash off.
