[Gift] High up and stupid
“Help me up instead.” The yellow and green raptor growled.
“Now why would we help you up when you act like that?” Kormal didn’t even look at him as he spoke. The pink raptor seemed to be more intrigued by his own claws than his partner.
It wasn’t really his fault that Phaeniss had managed to trip at the edge. And he was at the moment quite safe. He had managed to land on a small ledge just underneath the edge and it looked fairly sturdy.
“Really, we should just leave you there for a while. So you learn your lesson. Maybe next time we walk up here you won’t get yourself too close to the edge.” Ferdinand was looking down at him. He had a grin plastered on his face. It was fun for them to see their partner in such a pickle after all. The way he had to keep completely still as to not fall down the cliffside. It was uncommon for the energetic dinosaur to not be able to move at all.
“Honestly. We did tell you to watch yourself because we’re so high up. And you still decided to get close to the edge.” Phaeniss glared up at Kormal as he spoke. He still wasn’t giving him his full attention. Instead the pink raptor was watching the view from the cliffside. It was high up and they could see so far.
“I get it.” Phaeniss snarled at them both. He wasn’t really super scared of heights but he doubted that anyone wouldn’t feel a slight pang of terror at falling off a cliff even if they managed to land on a ledge in pure luck.
“I don’t think you do when you snarl like that.” Ferdinand couldn’t help but to grin wider as he saw the angry face of his partner. One of their favourite pastimes was to get the raptor angry. It was just a bonus right now that he couldn’t actually talk back to them in fear that they would actually leave him stranded on the ledge. “Ask nicely.”
For a moment Phaeniss turned his gaze to the view instead. It was far down, almost straight down as well, so there wasn’t really any chance he could scale the side of the cliff. He most definitely needed his partner's help. And they would give it to him, but not before using the moment to teach him to behave better.
“Fine.” The yellow and green raptor took a long pause before turning his gaze back up to the orange and the pink raptor. Fighting every ounce of irritation in his body he tilted his head slightly before he spoke again. “Please help me up.”
Ferdinand couldn’t help but to laugh at his partner's attempt at a plea in his voice. He wasn’t a natural at it at all. The raptor still sounded annoyed. But there had been an attempt and he had after all asked them somewhat nicely. It was an improvement for sure. But it wouldn’t stop either Ferdinand or Kormal from still making sure he had learned his entire lesson.
“And what lesson have we learned?” Kormal asked with a certain feeling of joy in his voice at the others misfortune.
“I am not going to walk by the edge again.” It wasn’t more than a hiss at this point when Phaeniss spoke. He was tired of the other raptors' joy. Ferdinand and Kormal looked over at each other. Pretending to contemplate if he was correct or not. “I am going to be more careful in the future, especially when we’re high up.” He angrily added in hopes that it would speed things up.
“It does seem like he might have learned his lesson. Doesn’t it?” Ferdinand gestured for Kormal to make the final decision. A way to drag the interaction out.
“It does seem like he has learned a lesson at least.” Kormal paused for a moment. “Fine, let's get him up from there before he actually falls. The world would be slightly less entertaining.” The two raptors, with surprising care, helped heave Phaeniss back up on the cliff. It took the yellow and green raptor a few heavy breaths before he dared to stand up and he now kept a more respectable distance between the cliffside and himself as he watched over the horizon. He hadn’t concentrated too much on the view due to his slight predicament. But it was a beautiful sight to be that high up after all.
“Looks like he actually learned a lesson.” Ferdinand laughed as he watched Phaeniss keep his eyes on the edge and make sure there was distance between it and him.
“A miracle for sure, that something like a lesson in common sense managed to penetrate your thick skull.” Kormal joined in laughing as Phaeniss only reacted by showing his slight anger at their remarks by letting his crested feathers rise. He didn’t really feel like fighting his partners after having spent such a long time on a ledge.
