[Gift] Event | The Crown Jewels | Heist
“Now this does not mean you go off on your own.” Kormal growled low at Phaeniss who had a vaguely “off in his own world” type of look on his face as he looked at the plan they had messily drawn out in the dust on the ground in the room they were sitting in a small circle together.
“I got it.” Phaeniss looked almost offended. Perhaps he didn’t really understand fully what Kormal was saying. At least he understood somewhat what the tone meant. “I got it.”
“If you screw this plan up for us..” Ferdinand warned him by reaching his feet over and gently pressing down on his face. Phaeniss allowed it to happen as he maintained full eye contact with the other raptor. “We will figure out a punishment you won't like.”
“Stuff him in a bag and throw him in a lake.” Kormal added quietly as he sketched out some more on the sketch as Phaeniss eyes moved over to the pink dinosaur.
“Something like that.” Ferdinand agreed.
“I said I understood the plan.” He growled quietly. “It’s not like you guys gave me something hard to do.” He almost sounded disappointed in the fact.
“For a good reason.” Kormal grinned when he said it. “If we gave you too much you wouldn’t be able to handle it all.”
“Yhea.. But I am only keeping watch.” He still had Ferdinands foot in his face as Ferdinand was looking over the plan again and it kept him from completely reaching over his own foot to the plans they had drawn on the ground as he mindlessly scratched his big talon on the ground.
Kormal and Ferdinand gave each other a meaningful look. Technically they did count on Phaeniss to fight if the guards were to arrive back earlier. But they didn’t want to tell the murderous raptor this in case he decided to try and get the guards attention. It was stupid to actually put any ideas into his head because if the idea was stupid enough he would actually do it. That they knew for sure. And they could probably still manage the plan and steal the jewels but it felt like such a hassle to do it the long way around.
They had gotten some good intel about how the guards would be switching off and for a solid five to ten minutes there would be no guards actually at the entrance to the vault. Of course. There was not a solid time-line. The guards could come back early on, or they could hear them rooting around. But their plan was to rush in, grab the jewels that were so precious to the queen and then rush off again. They didn’t see any value in the jewels themselves. There was rarely anything the three raptors could trade for with anyone else given what they actually preferred in ways of food and entertainment. But these jewels were precious to the queen of these underwater lands and if they could be a thorn in her side and take something from her that she would miss they would do it over and over again. They hadn’t even really met her yet. But they still disliked her.
The plan required them to wait around for a bit nearby the place where the crown jewels were kept. Which required them to keep watch around the area as well in case there was a guard who randomly happened to decide to walk down the dark corner they were standing at. They had, however, been lucky. There were no guards making their way down the corner. No one saw the slight light of the yellow, green and white sheen from Phaeniss bioluminescence in the darkness and decided to check it out. They had been undiscovered when the guards started walking down the hall. Both Ferdinand and Kormal laid on top of Phaeniss who was ordered to make himself as small as possible so that they could cover his bioluminescence from any prying eyes. They followed the guards until they made it around the corner. Making sure to give it a few extra seconds before they headed out from their hiding space in case they looked back around the corner.
“Let’s go.” Kormal hissed as both he and Ferdinand stood up from the now ruffled Phaeniss who did his best to rise quietly from the floor. “We gotta make sure to do this fast. We won’t be able to get past them if they see us.”
“Not easily at least.” Ferdinand agreed with a heavy nod and gestured to Phaeniss to take his place outside the opening of the vault.
Kormal and Ferdinand hurried inside. They had their eyes on the crown jewels but the room was full of shiny, shimmering treasure and they only had a vague idea about what the crown jewels actually looked like. They had too quietly rooted around. Every time they accidentally pushed something over it seemed as if the clanking sound of metal could be heard in the entire dome. Yet after two minutes of various clanking sounds no one had yet discovered them. They had found a few different things that could be assumed to be the mysterious crown jewels they had heard about. And they decided instead of trying to figure out which were the actual crown jewels to simply take all of them with them. As long as they could carry it on their necks or arms they were going to be fine. Ferdinand and Kormal hurried out to fill Phaeniss with different jewels as well as he kept his watch on the corner. His crested feathers were raised in anticipation and he didn’t even flinch when they placed stuff on him as secure as they possibly could. He wouldn’t let his eyes leave the corner where they saw the guarding dinosaur leave.
“Let’s go.” The hiss was low in Phaeniss ear and he flicked his tail as he followed his partners carefully. He hadn’t really realised how much stuff they had placed on him as they made their way into the dark hallway. The golden metal seemed to spread his bioluminescence even more as it bounced in all different directions.
“Shit-” Ferdinand said as he looked back at their partner. It wouldn’t be as easy to hide him with their bodies this time because all the treasure would make sounds.
“We have to get it off him-” Kormal couldn’t finish his sentence as the slow walking steps of the guard dinosaurs could be heard around the corner. There was no hiding for them. They had to come up with something real quick and real quiet, otherwise they would get caught, barely having had the time to escape with the treasure. Phaeniss stood out in the darkness like a discoball. It would have been easier to hide him in plain sight than in the darkness at this point. Neither Kormal nor Ferdinand mentioned the lack of planning for just this event. Instead deciding to internally blame it on their more stupid partner. It’s his bioluminescence so he really should have thought about it beforehand. It’s not their fault he shines like the sun on a cloudy day sometimes.
