Some bling for a fling?

Another day and another opportunity to serve the Queen in all her endeavors. Humla was excited to get some more work done today and eagerly walked out of her dorm to wake up her adoptive brother, Salmiakki. It was about time to get to the armory workshop, after all.
The light, banded female barged into the room of her sleeping brother with a loud enough honk to scare him wide awake and flailing around in panic before getting on his feet, giving his playful sister a glare of disapproval.

“Just a normal ‘good morning’ would be more than enough. And maybe a nudge or two. Who assigned you to be my alarm clock, anyway?” the gray cursed merle snorted as he regained his composure.
“You will just get mad at them if I tell you, so I will not.” Humla said with a cheeky smile on her face, as she wagged her tail slightly back and forth. “Come on, let’s get to work!”

Salmiakki sighed. His sister’s enthusiasm was no joke, and he both admired and loathed that about her. She could see something positive in almost anything or anyone. He put a smile on and followed his sister as she almost bounced her way over to the armory. He couldn’t let his sour morning mood drag her down.

Well in the armory, Humla and Salmiakki were greeted by Koi as usual. He had been their supervisor for quite some time and they were happy with him, he was kind, fair and not afraid to also get involved with the tasks. Today, however, yet another stranger stood before them. It was a somewhat scary looking herbivore, a dacentrurus. Those spikes were sure to be dangerous if used correctly. But Salmiakki didn’t want to judge too quickly, likely, since he was here with them, he was a good enough guy.
“Good morning, Humla, Salmiakki. I see you have spotted our new helper for the day. This is Calamity, and he has been assigned to help us out here today.” Koi said to introduce them to the pale stranger.

“Nice to meet you, I hope I can be of help here.” Calamity smiled softly. He was just happy to finally be surrounded by other herbivores again. He was sick of being paired up with carnivores for mundane tasks, they had nothing in common.
“Nice to meet you too! This is my brother and we have worked together for quite some time, it’s always fun to see a new friendly face!” Humla said, all bubbly and giddy. “You look super cool by the way, I would love spikes like yours. I bet you’re amazing at fighting off bad guys!”
Salmiakki could just barely contain a chuckle as he looked at the baffled dacen’s face.
“Thank.. You..?” Calamity replied, he had never really been complimented for his spikes before, so he wasn’t sure how to feel.
“Anyway..” Salmiakki said after clearing his throat. “Come with us, our work station is over here.”
The herbivore trio walked further into the room to their designated table, which conveniently could perfectly fit them all together. Salmiakki started explaining how things worked and what to do, while Humla just got to work immediately, but she kept glancing over at the crested dacen. He looked so different from anyone she had grown up around, which made sense considering they didn’t have any dacentrurus down here, but it didn’t stop fascinating her regardless.

After working for a while, Humla felt a bit playful and wanted to lightheartedly joke around, as she tended to do, so he gently poked Calamity with her club to get his attention. When he looked at her she just put on a huge grin and held up a newly polished piece of chestplate.

“Look, it’s almost as blindingly beautiful as you.” she smirked.
Calamity was taken aback, as if he was physically able to would surely be blushing from ear to ear. He looked down at his own, rough looking piece of armour that he was working on before looking back at Humla, who was looking at him with anticipation.

“I think you’re even more beautiful.” he mustered out, as he didn’t know at all what to say. He had never been flirted with before and was very confused.
Salmiakki just glanced between the two as he was working along. He didn’t say anything but just watched as his sister was swooning over the awkward compliment that had been returned to her. She was so busy being infatuated that she couldn’t hear how confused Calamity sounded, but being a spectator to the whole thing, Salmiakki noticed it quite easily.
“Just don't forget to work..” the spiked euoplo muttered to make his sister snap back into reality. She huffed and stuck her tongue out in response, but just as he intended, she got back to polishing stuff.
Calamity just looked lost and confused at this point, but seeing as he didn’t know what to say anyway and was, in fact, assigned a job, he got back to work as well. It didn’t take him long to get back into the groove of working efficiently, and Salmiakki smiled as he looked over too. He concluded that Calamity was a good colleague, but noted that he would have to keep his sister in check if he wanted them to be productive.
Humla pouted a little as Salmiakki was now keeping Calamity distracted, but she figured she could take him aside for a chat later, so she got up and collected some more armour that had just been left for them at the entrance, immediately looking through them all to see if any needed to be sent off to repairs. After sorting those out, she brought the haul of armour back to their worktable and placed them on the floor between her and Calamity, so they both would have to reach for the same pile of stuff.
Salmiakki was polishing away and Humla was setting up for yet another weird encounter, but he did his best to ignore it. As long as she still got work done, she could have her fun, he thought, so he didn’t plan on stopping her and just kept polishing and sorting out gear in need of more complex maintenance than his chonky feet could handle.
