[Event] Rumor Has It
It was time to get back at the higher court some, it was time to cause some problems. Travertine and Acanthur didn’t think they could take the court head-on, not all of them anyway, since the court was just as versed in combat as they were and twice their size… but the duo of Euoplocephalus did think that if they were going to do anything to go against them..they definitely could spread some rumors and other more subtle things. All the two Euloplocephalus had to do was get the court members alone or in pairs one by one and not be seen talking any of the times they wanted to spread rumors, That and they could spread the rumors to the lower ranks as well. Maranta and Sosi were going topside soon, and the court wouldn’t be able to ask them questions to clarify and clear things up with them…so the two Oviraptors were the perfect scapegoats for now. Atlantis went through a timed day-night cycle so Acanthur and Travertine would strike then.
Acanthur would make rounds hiding what armor she could find, armor she knew belonged to the higher court, and then while the armor was unguarded or unused she would carry it around and hide the armor in various places. Places the armors would be out of sight and not easy to find. Some armor she hid inside of the old Morpheus Facility, stashing it under or behind things, while other armor she put into the jungle and let the plants claim the armor for themselves. The court would not be happy about that, but that wasn’t going to be Acanthur’s problem. Warriors do not get sent on silly little sidequests to go dig armor out of the jungle or out of the junk room..that’s a job for the scouts like Sosi and Maranta. The two scouts that they were going to be framing for this. Acanthur even thought they could go a little farther than stealing and hiding some of the armor so Acanthur would decide to lay a couple of traps just to be an extra annoyance. She would find a rake, left from the humans, and cover it with leaves to put armor next to. Another dinosaur would probably step on that rake when they went to pick up the armor, and they would hit themselves in the face. It would be amusing to see but she wouldn’t be able to see it happen, she couldn’t be caught doing this or she would risk losing her position. Given the fact they would most likely send scouts out looking for the armor, the rake trap just wasn’t enough for Acanthur. She would also drag out some rope with her and make a snare, using some armor as bait. She doubted the snare would actually hurt anyone but it would definitely be a nuisance to whatever Oviraptor got stuck in it trying to get the armor she placed there.Once Acanthur was done hiding armor and being a small nuisance she would return to Travertine so Travertine could do her half the work.
Now that Acanthur returned to her to let her know the deed was done, Travertine would take to spreading rumors. It would happen at unexpected times, said almost casually. At a dinner here, or at a demonstration there. A “I heard from Sosi” here or a "Did you hear what Maranta said” there. A “The armor you requested seems to not be here” when asked to fetch one of the missing pieces of armor. Travertine would pretend to look for the armor, being convincing about it, while knowing full well that the piece the Iguanodon asked for was not anywhere near where it was supposed to be..then Travertine would either play innocent, not knowing a single thing or sometimes Travertine would ask who had been seen with the armor last, insinuating that they heard it had been Sosi or Maranta last seen with it. No one could confirm of course because those two had gone topside and were unreachable. When blaming Maranta or Sosi for things got boring, Travertine would take to vaguely blaming stray rebels that were known to live in the dense jungle of the Dome. Everyone knew they were there, and sometimes they were a problem, but most of the time the Court’s ego was the problem. It wasn't too hard to manipulate the court into thinking those so-called rascals were at it again. It also wasn't that hard to convince them to send out some poor Scout or Two to go fetch the missing pieces of armor, setting the poor guys up to fall for the traps and wasting the Court’s time. Travertine was having fun with it, getting to witness the Court's ire with or without Acanthur. See the scouts come back bruised, or seeing another scout having to be sent out to assist one that got into a trap. Even other warriors weren't safe from the rumors and tricks. Travertine especially loved making up rumors about Talos to get them in trouble with the court. No one was safe from Acanthur and Travertine.
Meanwhile, rumors weren't enough for Sonora. The brown, feathered Suchomimus had gotten herself into the Dome and was there to cause problems. One of the things Sonora decided to do was be an absolute menace. She would take some fresh paint that had been mixed up by the scouts and primates and she would paint a few of the doorway thresholds into one of the Morpheus Facilities where the higher court liked to be for feasting. She did this task during the night cycle of the dome while the higher court was asleep, right before ‘sunrise’. Then she waited. They didn't know any better when first thing in the morning the court members went in to go enjoy breakfast and soon enough they were tracking footprints of paint all over the building, it was great. Sonora played innocent, of course. She even might have spread a rumor that one of the scouts did it as a task to give the building a little freshening up, but Sonora of course made it clear it had been just something she heard. She would wait a couple of “night”s before she would strike again. The next time Sonora decided to prank the court it would be by moving an entire feast from one room to another. It was a tedious and time consuming task, one that would have gotten her caught by patrolling warriors a couple of times had she been less lucky. Still, piece by piece food by food plant by plant she moved things from one room to another room. It was kind of satisfying when she was finished with her prank, looking at a now empty room that the court would come to when they came for their meal. It was a fairly harmless prank, too, since all of the food was still good and was just sitting in a different room. The court would probably complain about having to go down the hall but that would hopefully be it.
When it came time for the court to go feast, Sonora was indeed pleased and very amused by their collective confusion.
