[Event ] Odd Jobs
So after the scuffle not too long ago Piper was needing to find herself back in favor with the Atlanteans, they were kind of dubious of her ever since she was broken out of her cell by Towhee and the entire rebellion thing happened to pay the queen back for jailing her in the first place. Well, this was easy peasy, she just needed to work off her debt and show them they can get along! She wasn’t about to clean armor for them or something like that but Piper could mix up medicines for them she just needed to familiarize herself with their plants more and such.
There was an Oviraptor named Paradise and she tracked them down and asked them about it. A full day would be spent following Paradise around and learning from Paradise about the plants of Atlantis that they have used for medicines. The plants here were far different than the plants Piper was used to up top on the islands but the concept was the same and the same techniques applied. Just be careful, don’t mix up the poisons with the snacks. Paradise showed Piper an entire farm that was dedicated to raising and harvesting the plants that were used for medicine, and some of these plants even provided other bits that worked as food. Piper couldn’t eat them, carnivore and all, but Paradise was able to get a snack out of things while babysitting the Cryolophosaurus and making sure Piper didn’t damage the plants or waste materials for making the medicines. Paradise would show Piper how to collect up the plants that needed harvesting before taking them to a station to separate them and then group them up with specific combinations to make certain, different, medicines. Paradise would then show Piper which ones needed ground, shaved, squeezed or some of them even needed to be cooked in order to make them into something useful. Paradise would show Piper which medicines did what, there were antibiotics, medicines for stomach issues and ones that even neutralized certain poisons. Some of these plants could even be used for paints as bonding agents or pigments. After that Paradise would free Piper from his water and send Piper off to go put some antibiotic salve on some of the warriors that had been getting into fights with islanders. Piper made sure to tend to these warriors and would even make up bandages on her own to patch them up after antibiotics, something they were thankful for. She was sure now she was getting into better relations with them.
Meanwhile Phobos kind of had no idea why he was here, but here he was, and he had not been having a good time. Phobos had gone into the tunnels to go to Atlantis out of curiosity and hoping to strike up a sort of camaraderie with the Atlanteans due to also coming from a laboratory, but what he found when he got into the underwater done was a completely different society than what he was used to and they were very distrustful and even hostile, especially to him, who was a carnivore. He remembered when the big door opened and he and the other Albertosaurus were freed from the Alpha Labs and what a relief that had been, and how friendly they had been to the islanders coming into the Alpha Labs, showing the islanders around. There was none of that here. He wasn’t too worried about the skittish Oviraptors who seemed to be the lowest rank of this Atlantean court, but the armored and spiked and armored even more Euoplocephalus were spunky and hostile and were definitely making sure no one hurt their way of life under this dome.
With his long legs, the Euoplocephalus were easy to avoid, and if push came to shove he was sure he could figure out how to kill them… it was the Iguanodons that scared him…a lot. The highest members of the court under their Queen, he wanted to gain favor with them so he could escape this terrifying jungle back to the topside. So, he offered services. He started with bringing them a present, an offering, hoping to appease them. Thanks to his upbringing in a somewhat human setting he brought them a wheelbarrow (hoping it was worth it, probably clumsy to use) And inside of it was a bunch of blades from a combine harvester, all very, very sharp. He was sure if the other dinosaurs didn’t use them for farming, somehow, they could probably turn them into weapons or decorations. It was definitely a thought and he hoped to be long gone by then. After suspiciously taking the offering and looking at it curiously, the court assigned the tyrannosaur a sort of babysitter to give him… more work. Mantell is a big Iguanodon that intimidates him just by standing there watching him. Green with a white and yellow countershaded underside with a red dorsal line and black stripes running his entire body. Black scutes accent him and Phobos doesn’t want to look at him. He doesn’t want to seem weird and get the other angry at him. Mantell takes him through a building that definitely used to be part of the Morpheus facility and he starts to wonder what work he’s getting if Mantell isn’t leading him to his doom. He doesn’t think he would be good for.. A lot of things.. His arms aren’t very useful, and it can be clumsy trying to use his big head for things. Going back outside, as it turns out Mantell wanted him to move some oversized pumpkins from the back of the building to the front of the building in preparation for a festival. Normally the Iguanodons would pick up the pumpkins and put them on the back of a Euoplocephalus for the tabletop dinosaur to take them since it was awkward to try to carry them themselves through the building without hitting their head. It was much easier for Mantell to have Phobos pick them up one by one and babysit him as he takes them, one by one, from the back to the front. It was slow, tedious work because he could only carry one pumpkin at a time but it seemed to keep Mantell entertained for now. Maybe even put Phobos into some favor with Mantell for putting up with such ridiculous work. Phobos ended up moving about thirty pumpkins by the end of the job and he was bored, and tired, and his neck kind of was a little sore maybe. It seems, though, Mantell was a little pleased with him because the Iguanodon somehow didn’t seem as scary. Mantell even escorted him to another part of the building where a bunch of rugs, blankets and other things were laid down creating a soft nest… and Mantell let Phobos rest there in comfort and peace.
Not knowing what the other two were doing, Romeo had ended up in Atlantis somewhat by accident and now he had taken to the Atlantean’s way of life when others might not have. While the jungle was a bit terrifying, the waterways and the plants and fish that came with them were wonderful. So was that koi pond they had and took good care of. Romeo wanted to get in good graces with the Atlanteans so he could visit anytime he wanted, so long as the dome held, and so he could enjoy the peaceful retreat. (if you ignore the dinosaur-eating plants). After a brief initial visit Romeo gathered up a few presents and would return to Atlantis to offer them to the first Iguanodon he could find. Amusingly enough, the presents he would be offering was a collection of corals, shells, lost jewelry and gemstones. He thought they were all beautiful and these dinosaurs of the higher court, who were vain about their looks and life, would take to them he hoped. The Iguanodon he ended up meeting was Kratti, an Iguanodon who looked like a giant dog of some sort despite being massive and bald.. Spiked. They had a black frame, with more subtle off-blank coloring on their flank and the rest of the filling of the frame. A tan countershade and brown points, with a white rim accenting them. They have a purple fading dimorphic on their back and are covered and scars. They would probably terrify Phobos but Romeo wasn’t intimidated by any of the court. He pulled himself from the water and approached them, offering them the picnic basket that he had clutched in his claws. When they looked at the offerings inside of the basket he was right, they really seemed to like the offerings. Kratti seemed to really take to what used to be a horse collar, leather with shells and other cosmetics worked into it. Because they seemed to take to it so well he would go the extra step to put the former horse collar on Kratti. It was some sort of breast collar, so it took some work to put it on Kratti like a harness of sorts. Once he had it figured out and got it all snug then it was up to him and Kratti to find some sort of mirror so Kratti could see how they looked in it. Kratti would invite him deeper into the dome and lead him into a former Morpheus facility where there were restrooms. In the restroom they went into was a mirror that went from wall to wall, and that let the two of them see themselves very well. Kratti seemed to still take well to things, very much enjoying how the collar worked on him. To butter him up some more Romeo would dig a gold ring out of the picnic basket and add the ring to one of Kratti’s thumb spikes, adding a little more color to him to offset the amount of black and brown. Kratti was charmed by the offering and now would pick the basket of goodies up, having Romeo follow him as he led the Suchomimus to a couple of other court members who were just relaxing and avoiding responsibilities. Now Kratti and Romeo passed around the goodies, showing them off to the other court members and Romeo would rake in the praise as they all seemed to take to one thing or another. With several of the court pleased with him, Kratti especially, Romeo would get his pass into Atlantis he wanted. First and foremost- his new friend Kratti would escort him to the Koi Pond to make sure he got there safe and sound before leaving Romeo to relax.
All and all it was a good day of islanders pleasing the court with various gifts and works of labor, acting as either friend to please or worker to please and get into favor.
The trio do things!
