The sheer amount of plants in the area was starting to become a problem. One that Chii, Kujo and Cheer found themselves growing more and more displeased with the more they wandered the islands.

At first they had thought the new dinosaurs were awesome. More people to meet, new plants to discover and use, and that wasn’t mentioning the little monkeys and lemurs that could be seen running around on occasion as well. Chii had thought it was funny how much some of them sort of looked like the two-legs of the past. She’d made the joke on occasion that the old humans didn’t actually die out and had simply turned into the new creatures that were running around the islands with the other dinosaur species.

The thrill of everything wore off quickly when the Iguanodons started to show up more and more. Most of them seemed to be violent creatures, or at the very least aggressive in how they acted. They made demands of people and had started to take territory across the islands that weren’t theirs.

Chii and her brothers had simply tried to avoid them. And for the most part it worked out pretty well. The only thing that they were now having trouble avoiding was the rapidly growing plants. They grew like weeds. Quickly, and would often kill out the other plants in the area around their home.

“That is it! I’m done! I’m done with all of these vines, all of these stupid flowers! I’m done!”

Chii glanced back into the cave from where she lay at the entrance, narrowing her eyes in confusion as to who exactly was losing their mind. Kujo, who had been enjoying a midday nap, had woke up as well and looked back towards one of the side caverns deeper in the cave where he heard their brother.

It had been Cheer. Of the three of them, Chii hadn’t expected the normally happy and calm cryo to be the one that lost his patience first with the plants. Though, as she looked into the cave and waited for her brother to come storming out of his ‘room’ she realized she could understand why he was the first to break. The more aggressive vined plants had invaded their cavern over the last week, spreading across the ground and up onto the top of the cave. Flowers had now started to grow from the vines, colorful and vibrant, and seemed to be glowing faintly. Thicker, thorned, vines had sprouted up the last few days and had wormed their way back deeper into the caverns of their home.

                Directly into Cheer’s personal room.

“What did the plants do to you?” Kujo laughed, standing up and had started to walk towards the other side of the cave just as Cheer stomped out of his room.

“They are all over my skull collection! One even got destroyed! The stupid vines broke it apart!” Cheer snapped, dropping the remains of the deer skull that he had saved from one of their first hunts onto the ground. Chii made her way over as well, looking down at the shards of bone that were tangled up in a mass of plants.

“All because we let that stupid Oviraptor plant a little garden out front! No! That’s done!” Cheer snapped and headed towards the front of the cave system. Chii and Kuju looked between themselves before following after their brother, heading outside and towards the patch of tilled dirt where a few Oviraptors had come by the previous week to plant some of their seeds.

They promised beauty and said that the plants would bring them all sorts of good luck. None of them believed the luck part, but they had been hopeful that their small territory would have a little bit more life to it than just the trees and grass that grew. To their credit, the garden had come to life and had brought so much more life to their territory as well.

There were various plants that had sprouted up in the garden, tomatoes and onions of some sort, as well as the madly growing vine plant that had started to take over the entire area as well as their cave. The flowers that grew at the oldest part of the plant were larger than anything the three had seen before and had made the area smell amazing. But that didn’t seem to matter at all as Cheer started to use his hands and feet to rip at everything he saw.

“Should we help him?” Kujo whispered over to Chii. The plated Cryo didn’t reply for a moment, only watching her brother in amusement and concern as he tried to bring single-handed annihilation onto the garden.

“Yeah, otherwise he’s going to cut his feet up pretty bad with that thorned vine plant-thing.” Chii whispered back before heading over to help.

The group had managed to rip up a good amount of the garden when they heard the quick footfalls that they had come to know as the Oviraptor that oversaw their garden. After the creature had planted it for them, he had been pretty good in coming back every few days to check on the plants and tend to them.

“What are you doing?! You’re not helping anything! You’re ripping all the plants up!” The Oviraptor yelled in horror, running over and dropped the little bucket of water he’d brought for the sole purpose of watering the plants.

Chii glanced over at the man, the look on his little beaked face as if they had just finished killing a family member of his. It was comical, to a degree, but she also felt a small twinge of sadness. He had done nothing to them, and it seemed as if he was taking the destruction of the garden as a personal attack.

“These stupid plants are everywhere! They’ve overgrown the garden and got into the cave! You never said they would do that.” Cheer said, flicking his head over quickly to snap at the Oviraptor.

“I told you they would make your territory so much more beautiful! And you all had no issue with them growing into the cave when I was by last week! Look at my beautiful little children!” The Oviraptor replied, squatting down beside the garden and picked up a claw-mangled carrot, looking up just in time to watch as Kujo dug his feet into the soil and kicked out the bulb of the spiked vine plant.

“They’re plants.” Chii said and chuckled a bit.

“They’re from Atlantis!” The Oviraptor replied, frowning up at Chii.

“Well, Atlantis can take its plants and shove them right up its-“

“We won’t be needing your help anymore with this garden. Thank you.” Chii quickly cut Kujo off before he could finish his sentence.

The Oviraptor had left not long after that, Chii and Kujo watching as the pitiful creature dragged his feet with his head sadly slumped down as he walked off. Behind them, she could still hear Cheer going to town on the remains of the garden.

“Get me fire. I will burn this all to the ground!”

Chii closed her eyes and sighed before glancing over at her dark-hided brother who was just smirking at the request from their sibling.

                “Should I get-“

“No. Do not get him fire. Let’s go get the rest of the plants ripped out of the cave, though, while he rages out here.” Chii said, motioning for Kujo to follow her as she headed back into the cave.
