Courting season was here and finding partner could be a delicate ritual with most failing or getting injured especially when your possible partner has a keen eye for eating her own kind but that didn’t deter Boneyard from pursuing Abandon which was a female cryo who dawned harsh scars across her body and face and he was young and new just freshly a adult man cryo so he had a lot of things stacked against him but he was determined.

Abandon had been avoiding the courtship grounds and was off doing her own thing as any males that pursued her usually ended up hurt or were to scared to try and courtship her which she was fine with but she could smell the scent of Boneyard trailing her which she didn’t seem to mind as the male wasn’t pushy or over confident and kept his distance from her.

He didn’t have any vibrant colors like the rest of the males from his species so he would have to impress her another way but he wasn’t sure how as he followed behind her making sure to stay out of sight when Abandon would look behind her but shook it off and kept minding her own business scanning and scavenging for small prey items she could get her teeth on.

Boneyard had an idea as he scurried off in search of a small meal, that’s how he would Impress her and besides who didn’t like a free meal in the form of a gift, he would prove to her he could provide and be a great hunting partner in which was always a trait most predatory dinosaurs looked for in partners for the courtship season.

Abandon came to a stop as she felt her stomach grumble which made her hiss in annoyance but she turned around quickly hearing the sound of something thumping on the ground followed by red eyes that watched her every move… It was Boneyard, the male she had been smelling, that had followed her for a while now and he had dropped a dead rabbit in front of him, what was he taunting her.

Tilting her head she growled and watched Boneyard before she spoke “ what’s this for and why are you following me” she said harshly but that didn’t scare the male off it made him fall for her even more and the interest spiked more, she wasn’t your normal laid back cryos she was hostile and bitey which he found amusing and different.

“It’s for you, you seemed hungry” he said quietly and moved forwards as he nudged it closer to her making sure to watch his movements, just because he brought a gift didn’t mean Abandon wouldn’t attack and she was known to be unpredictable at times, things he overheard from other males that tried their luck with her and were unsuccessful in courting her, but so far so good he wasn’t messing up and that was a good sign at least.

“Oh well thanks, so what made you want to

Follow me shouldn’t you be courting” she said walking forwards and grabbed the rabbit gulping it down quickly as she licked her jaws and circled around Boneyard testing his temperament, her hissing echoed in his ears but he didn’t move and made sure to stay calm.

“You looked interesting” Boneyard said as he fluffed his feathers and kept his eyes on Abandon as she looked him over to get a gauge on how strong he was which so far she was impressed.

“Interesting… well let’s put you to the test then” she said before walking off and telling him to follow her, she was understanding why he was there and she wouldn’t court with just any male he had to prove himself in being a good partner and that was where he would pick to nest and if he was good at building a nest that would protect their young and eggs, coming to a stop she turned and looked at Boneyard who looked determined to impress her further.

“Pick a nesting spot and make a nest and then maybe I’ll decide to court with you” she said smirking and waiting to see what Boneyard would do with the new information that came from her jaws, but with quick actions Boneyard nodded and got to work looking for the perfect nesting spot which was in between some large trees that had a haloed out spot that would be great for a nesting spot.

“Seems like he knows what he’s doing” Abandon mumbled to herself watching contently as Boneyard began collecting various sticks and foliage and placing it in the nesting spot before heading out to find more as the once empty spot began to look more comfortable with each placement he made, Abandon was impressed.

“All done, go test it out and tell me

What you think of it” Boneyard said softly and waited for Abandon to test it out as she walked over and sniffed before sitting down in the nest, it was good and good for a male doing his first courtship year which made her grin and nod before getting up and coming back out towards him.

“Very well you have proven to me you aren’t lame and may be a good partner but we will see over the next few weeks how you fair” Abandon said as she rubbed her snout against his before she walked past “ I can still eat you” she added before laughing and disappearing into the bush waiting for him to join.

Boneyard laughed and nodded before following behind her quickly so he wouldn’t lose her “you can count on me to watch your back” he said before taking a look at his nesting work, guess he was good at nesting and that was a good trait for Abandon being a bit older in age but he had impressed her enough for her to agree to courtship and be partners for the season and to raise a clutch, younger males knew more tricks then the old dogs and Boneyard was happy to impress her.
