Wilt The Plants

“Rip it off.” Snarled the hulking beast before her, spiked tail swinging wildly in agitation as she looked around at the climbing vegetation. Aster, Nyx remembered her saying her name was, glared at Nyx as if she were some… Lowly servant or a poisonous snake instead of an equal.
It was surprising she didn’t get along with the high and mighty ‘court’ which resided within the dense and humid biodome.

Nyx’s eyes flicked to the foliage which Aster had pointed out, staring at the seemingly endless green that branched out of the looming jungle behind them.  The dense and wild plant life had slowly been inching its way towards the edge of the dome, towards the tunnels which would lead it out into the islands above. It wasn’t the soft lushness Nyx had grown accustomed to above, no, it was far worse. It was dense leafage and vibrant spidery tendrils which she could imagine hooking into her fur and pulling her into the suffocating foliage where she would never be seen again-
Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
The plants sheltered within the dome, no there were far from normal, they were deadly, carnivorous. Willing to eat anything that moved that they could get their roots around. She dared not get close, not even a tails length away from the terrifying plants for fear of what would happen.

“And what if I don’t, ol’ hag?” chirped Nyx, blue-green eyes met vibrant red in a blaze of determination. Aster’s gaze absolutely burned with hatred and anger, as if enraged by the sheer audacity that Nyx had confronted her with. However, Nyx couldn’t care less. She didn’t care about Aster or her opinions, she held no weight or sway over Nyx or anything she did. Aster’s response was to lash out her great spined thagomizer, the keratin catching the light and standing out against the vibrant green forest which surrounded them. Oh she was preparing to fight…
Nyx could handle this. Her shoulders squared and bristled her feathers to make herself appear larger, as well as displaying the health of her newly settled adult feathers. She may be young, but Nyx was no stranger to scraps or tough situations. She had survived on her own for long enough to hold her own, no matter how much larger Aster was in comparison to herself.

Spiked tail. Spiked body. Beak- she mentally counted the weapons which Aster presented. Each weapon that she would have to be wary of in combat. It would be tricky, but not even slightly impossible. Nyx had brought down deer and various other dangerous prey, surely she could bring down something like Aster… Right?

“ENOUGH! Both of you enough-!” A voice boomed from the nearby shrubs. It was deep, reverberating in the air and ringing with authority. When Nyx turned she saw him, a hulking shadow slowly emerging from the jungle. His vibrant red throat stood out from his dark muscled form which stalked from between the rustling leaves. Nyx recognized the iguanodon from her wades through the jungle, Velvet.
“Our fight isn’t with each other, it's with them.” He snarled at Aster first then Nyx, trapping them both beneath his blazing pink toned gaze.

However he wasn’t alone.
Velvet shoved one of his powerful forelimbs forward, pushing a smaller oviraptor over easily. Spilling the satchel stuffed full of seeds and sprouting plants. Aster’s bristling settled for just a moment, as did Nyx’s. Both staring down at the trembling and pale creature in surprise and confusion.

“They’re going to spread their seeds on the surface. Your surface. Do you want that?” Growled Velvet as an oppressive forelimb kept the oviraptor pinned into the humidity softened earth. The response from Aster was immediate, her thagomizer arched through the air like a lashing thorn vine as she snorted in fury. It stunned Nyx when Aster stalked forward, and instead of harming the oviraptor, used her less harsh weight to keep the small creature down so Velvet could step back.
“Good.” He huffed, not seeming to care about the red eyed herbivore’s pointed stare.

Velvet’s eyes swung around wildly for a moment before pausing on Nyx’s smaller form. Staring at her with narrowed eyes as she fluffed her coat to appear larger beneath his scrutiny. Finally, he huffed a breath and shrugged his shoulders.
“Nyx, with me. Aster, you stay with the ovi to ensure he can’t keep spreading seeds. We’ll hunt for where he’s stashed them and wreck the stash.” he grunted while walking away, barely even waiting for Nyx to catch up before beginning his brisk pace through the jungle. She followed each step cautiously, one wrong move and she could be swallowed whole by the jungle-

“...Why are you helping us?” She asked him quietly, voice almost entirely consumed by the fervor of which the birds chirped and monkeys shrieked above them. He didn’t answer for several heartbeats, seeming to consider his next words carefully before speaking again. All the while his eyes scanned the jungle floor for tracks and clues on where the stash of seeds could possibly be hiding-
“Here-” He grunted finally after many moments of terse silence, brushing some dense ferns to the side to reveal a satchel. Upon peering inside Nyx discovered the seemingly thousands of seeds… All primed for planting in the earth of the surface.
“I help you because I-” Velvet paused as he reared up onto his hindlegs and smashed down on the satchel of seeds. Listening to them crunch beneath his weight. “Because I want them to regret throwing me to the wolves.” The words were weighted, even as he slammed his body down with another crunching thud.

While Velvet smashed the seeds Nyx busied herself with locating the nearby sprouts, ripping into them with her sharp teeth. Destroying the plants.

Meanwhile, Aster remained at her post. Diligently guarding their ‘prisoner’ while the two worked to destroy all the carefully cultivated work of the Atlanteans… Oh sweet this was. The fall of dinosaurs who believed themself to be so mighty.
She snorted at the oviraptor she held in place, eliciting a flinch. With a roll of her eyes she looked back up. When the two returned… She would take her leave.
