Run for the game!
There was news through the grapevine within the isles that there was something special going on. The court was looking for dinosaurs with special skill sets and that they would need to demonstrate said skill.
Out of curiosity, Nightingale was wondering what she could provide. Her mind raced as she trekked through the forest and into an opening of a variety of floral. The colors and smells of the flowers tickled her nostrils as her mind exploded with ideas.
Various thoughts came about; should I try to lift? No, no I’m not strong enough, yet! What about bringing back a unique prey? Hmm, perhaps… what about if I do some sort of run. I’m pretty sure I’m fast for my size! Yeah! I think I need to show them how fast I am as a Cryolophosaurus.
Nightingale did not know for certain if her kind were typically fast, but she was interested in trying out something. It gave her something to look forward to and possibly increase her own endurance to run and hunt faster than others.
This idea sounded great, and she really wanted to be sure she could accomplish it. As a quick practice, Nightingale lowered her body, pacing back a few steps before using all her weight forward to fast walk into an almost gallop. Her legs reached as far as they could with her gait as she made it across the opening within a minute or less. At least, she thought it was around that.
Panting slightly, she took in a large inhale with a gulp of air to wet her mouth down a bit. It became a little dry as she was breathing heavily. She was definitely out shape but could prove that she was fast. Something she really wanted to do!
Looking around with her red eyes, she noticed a Euoplocephalus wandering around. She was uncertain if they were. The creature was grey and white, feathered in appearance and seemed rather,…. friendly? If that was even the right term, Nightingale thought to herself.
The Euoplocephalus spoke, briefly with a tone that was something she could not fully interpret, “Impressive.”
What in the world are they talking about? Did they see me running across? Nightingale’s thoughts went all over the place.
“I.. I… uh, thank you?”, Nightingale was uncertain in her words and tone of voice. Her body tensed slightly because she was very unsure as to what this herbivore was doing.
Clearly, she needed to just mind her business as to the whys of things and be polite. Figure out what they want or need and go from there. A part of her kind of hoped they were linked with the advertisements going around about skill sets.
“You’re welcome”, the Euoplocephalus spoke kindly. Pacing closer to Nightingale to inspect her.
He had been curious about Cryolophosaurus in general and luckily, found one on his outing. There was no threat necessary from him to the Cryo. A soft smile peered across his maw as his golden-ish eyes blinked just as soft.
“From what I saw, yer pretty fast,” he then spoke in a calm demeanor and praising tone.
Nightingale giggled nervously before nodding her head in acknowledgement as she spoke, “Oh, well thank you. I didn’t realize I would have an audience so soon.”
She was still unsure but her guard dropped a little at the calm demeanor he had been showing. Swaying her body slightly, her tail almost wagging behind as the rest of her body and head, specifically, inspected him more.
Even though, this may be Nightingale’s first time coming across this type of dinosaur, she definitely did not feel threatened by him. In fact, she was kind of excited and had an ounce of hope that she would fit the profile for the special skill set.
“Are.. are you part of the, court or something? Looking for special dinosaurs?,” She asked, curiously as her head tilted to the side. Her red orbs blinked.
“You got that right,” the Euoplocephalus said in a confirmed tone before introducing himself. “Name’s Lobo. Pleasure to meet… you? You are who?” The question posed shifted his tone to become just as curious as Nightingale.
“I’m Nightingale, pleased to meet you, Lobo,” she replied confidently with a light head bow.
Lobo chuckled softly before he looked around. Trying to decide whether or not this Nightingale should do it again here or bring her to back. A brief moment of silence occurred before he decided to speak, not only in response to Nightingale but in addition.
“Hm, you wanna do that run again?” Lobo asked curiously. His golden-ish eyes blinked before they fluttered around the area the duo was located.
The wind picked up a little, creating a breeze and some chirps were heard in the distance. The sun beaming right above them, indicating it was around midday.
Nightingale lifted a taloned finger to her chin, or as close as her small arms could reach to think. It only took her a few moments to decide whether or not she would accept the invite.
“Oh, of course! I’d love to,” she spoke in response. Truly, she wanted to try being the best Cryolophosaurus in the speed section of whatever type of skill sets were deemed as special.
“Very well then,” Lobo gave a nod of acknowledgement as he took a few steps back to give her room. Even though he did not see how she prepared herself to run, he figured it was the polite thing to do. Especially since this Cryo could try to gobble him up if it went the wrong way.
Nightingale spoke no words but nodded to him with a low mmm out of her maw. She shifted her body to turn around. Glancing around the area, there were more birds and bugs fluttering and singing or chirping about their day. A soft smile tugged at the edge of her snout as she backed up a few steps. Taking one glance back at Lobo before she leaned weight in the front half of her body and she took off.
Lobo watched in astonishment and wide eyed.
Nightingale was on the other side of the floral field within a minute or less. Give or take, Nightingale did not really have a concept of how fast anything truly was. But she felt as though she was pretty quick.
Panting, she made a half circle to look back at Lobo. He was heading her way.
She hoped he would give praise and get accepted into the special skill set area of being a fast Cryo. But who knows! Maybe it was just in her head that she could even have that type of potential.
