To crystal or not to crystal

As usual, Nightingale was always seen wandering near the shoreline. This time, the weather was cloudy. The air was cool and the breeze was warm. Clouds were a bit dark, almost indicating that a storm was going to be in the near future.

While Nightingale had been venturing along the path. The path, which, was majority sand and some areas of grassy patches with trees for coverage if there was too much sun or protection from rain. It was an easy trek for her and she appreciated nature’s ways of protecting her.

The Cryolophosaurus inquisitively walked about with a ‘pep’ in her step. She was excited to be on an adventure.

However, she did not anticipate the weather to go bad. The clouds were deceiving, she grimaced looking up to the skies with her red eyes. A scowl appeared across her features as she turned back to look further.

She spotted a cave.

“Perfect!” she exclaimed to herself. Excited to see what could be in there and thankful there was something nearby as a few raindrops were felt on her nose and near her eyes. The raindrops that fell near her eyes, made her flutter her eyes to try and deter it from sliding into her eye holes.

Luckily, the cave was not too far. It only took Nightingale a few large steps before she reached the entrance of it.

Quickly, she looked around. Making sure no one was nearby or if there was something else within the entrance that she would frighten. Or something that would frighten her.

Coast was clear. Literally.

She stepped into the cave. Looking around, noticing some stalactites and stalagmites throughout the rock walls.

She stayed put for a few minutes, the tip of her tail near the entrance, felt some raindrops fall. It was slow at first then picked up into nearly a downpour.

“Whew, that was close,” she turned her head to look at her tail as it swayed with her movements and the rest of her body shifted. Thankful she made it in here before it rained more.

Although Nightingale enjoyed the water, she was not a fan of rain too much. Thunderstorms were more intriguing to her. The sounds tickled her ear drums in a way that gave her a calm.

So, for now, she had no need to worry about a storm.

Shifting her head back toward the cave. She looked around with her red eyes.

Taking a deep breath. She needed the confidence boost because she was kind of afraid of the dark. At least in spooky places like a cave, of all places.

The Cryolophosaurus normally would not go into caves by herself, so this was undeniably a test for herself. She was told some scary stories as a hatchling of oddities and creatures that dwelled inside them.

Nightingale started to walk forward, deeper into the cave. The light behind her was darkened and fading; it was darkened due to the rain to begin with.

She shivered, goosebumps prickled her flesh as she shivered again.

As she was feeling these goosebumps, she noticed some sort of light source ahead. It was a blueish hue, glistening against the opposite side of the walkway. It was truly quite calming in appearance.

A curiosity within herself rose, as she continued forward in a cautious stride.

The glowing was from a cluster of crystals that were scattered on the right side of the inner path.

The Cryolophosaurus’ red eyes grew wide in astonishment. The sparkling of the crystals danced on the other side of the path. It gave a sense of calm.

“Wow... this is so…” Nightingale whispered, practically spellbound by the beauty of the crystals. She had never seen them before. “Beautiful,” she completed her sentence. She did not really know the proper word for it. It was so mesmerizing to her. The feeling she felt within was something she had never sensed before.

The sparkles flittered as she slowly stepped closer to the crystals. She wanted to touch and see what would happen. The curiosity was so intense that she could not tell the difference between other emotions at this time.

Reaching one arm up, her fingers wiggled out of a curl to allow the tip of one finger’s talon to brush across the tip of the crystal. It was cool to the touch. The blue hue dimmed slightly. It was as if the crystal knew it was being touched.

That was a surprise to her. This whole experience was new and a wonder to her.

Now the true question was whether she was able to take a crystal with her as a souvenir and possibly to show others her findings. It was completely unplanned for her to find crystals, but it was something she felt a tingle within. Similarly, she felt this way when near sources of water.

“Wow,” she whispered to herself, the tone in her voice almost cracked because it was so breathtaking to her.

A part of her did not want to take a crystal though. Internally, she was fighting with her own thoughts about the crystals. Perhaps the best good grace was to just go back out and find others, to tell her story. If they did not believe her, she would be to show them herself!

All while these thoughts rummaged through her mind, she had been caressing the crystal slowly and carefully. She did not want to harm it. She did not even know if it was something good or bad either.

After some thinking and processing, she moved her fingers away from the crystals. The blue hue grew stronger again as she smiled widely at the sight. It was as if the crystal was speaking to her.

She decided against trying to take a crystal.
