Food Banquet

A pair Tapejara soar over the leafy treetop searching for a new dinosaur species that was spotted in the area. Their land bound friend, Fey, races after them, but with their lack of wings they lag behind. 

Apparently these newly found dinosaurs love gardening and are also eager to try out the local cuisine! 

Teacup, a sandy brown shaggy flyer with blue star like spits along his wings and face carries a large rainbow fish for their new guests to try.

His mate, Aurora, carries a clam in one foot and some sea weed in the other, while Fey carries a chunk of meat. None of the group is sure what the newcomers would like to eat but they're determined to win their support! Gaining more grounded friends would be lovely for the fliers. 

Unlike Teacup, Aurora is a dark green, almost black, and covered with feathers. He has a piebald marking that covers a green Aurora borealis like marking along his back and wings. 

Fey is an utahraptor with light green skin and yellow and dark green markings. While not part of the fliers pack he lives nearby and was curious about these new dinosaurs.

As Teacup and Aurora make their way over a stretch of rocky desert they spot a strange dinosaur. 

It almost looks like a raptor but has a shorter tail and strange face.

“That must be one of the new dinosaurs!” Teacup says. Aurora nods in agreement and the pair hover for a moment, waiting for Fey to catch up.

The raptor pauses to stare at the fliers once he reaches them.

“There's one ahead!” “We found one!”
The Tapejara screech in excitement, talking over one another. Luckily Fey is able to hear them both. 

Nodding, Fey follows the pair into a desert area. He slows down to climb carefully over rocks as the pair races ahead.

The black and yellow dinosaur dashes away when it notices the fliers coming towards it.

“Wait! Don't go!” Teacup calls out, trying to stop the other dinosaur, but it is too fast. 

The dinosaur runs from them, darting past large rocks and massive cactuses. They follow it into a small cave where the dinosaur hisses at them. It holds its arms out, trying to make itself look bigger. 

“Hello! You aren't from around here are you?” Teacup asks, hesitantly landing on the ground. He places his fish in front of himself, hoping that the newcomer wouldn't see them as a threat.

Aurora lands beside him and moves his clam and sea weed beside the fish.

The black and yellow dinosaur slowly approaches them, eyes darting between them and the food.

“I am new to this area, yes.”

Fey slowly enters the cave and the black and yellow dinosaur tenses up again. Fey drops the meat next to the offering of other foods. 

“Sorry I'm late!” Fey pants, exhausted from running. He sits down beside Aurora and faces himself to not lay down flat on the rocky floor. “You're all acquainted already then?” 

Teacup shakes his head and the dinosaur steps forward. “My name is Supernova. I am an Oviraptor.” 

Fey taps his own chest, speaking next. “Fey, Utahraptor. I live in a meadow area nearby these two.”

“I'm Teacup and this is Aurora! We're Tapejara!” Teacup says, flapping his wings excitedly. “We live on a beach a few hours from here.” Aurora chimes in.

“Are these for me?” Supernova asks, practically drooling over the fine spread of food before her. In this desert area she's found herself in she's had troubles finding better food then large bugs and dried grasses. 

Aurora nods. “Since you're not from around here we figured we'd bring some food from our area for you to try!” 

“How thoughtful!” Supernova says. She excitedly picks up the fish and takes a bite. “So fresh! We don't get food like this back home.”

“Try this next!” Aurora suggests, pointing to the sea weed. “It's sea weed that grows in the waters by our home.” Supernova does so. “Wow, very salty!” She chews the weed slowly, enjoying the texture.

Fey points at the chunk of meat that he brought. “This was part of a larger animal that lives in my area. It's called a deer.” Supernova doesn't hesitate to pick up the meat and takes a large bite. She chews the meat slowly, the blood helping remove traces of salt from the weeds she just ate.

“And last but not least we've brought for you a clam!” Teacup says, picking up the clam. “You crack it open and eat the insides!”

Supernova picks up the clam. “It's beautiful! Is there a way to open it without breaking it?”

Fey nods and takes the clam from her. “You can, but you have to be careful.”

He sticks a claw against the side of the shell and slowly wedges the clam open.

“Here ya go.”

“Wow!” The oviraptor takes the clam back and gives it a look over. What a neat type of food! She picks up the muscle inside and eats it. “That's different, sort of tastes like fish!” 

“Do you not have fish in your area?” Fey asks.

Supernova shakes her head. “No, not like this. The fish we have are small and can be rather difficult to capture. They're hardly worth the effort.” 

“Well, we can always catch you more if you want!” Teacup offers, flapping his wings in excitement. 

Supernova smiles. “I would like that. Thank you.”

“If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing here Supernova? I've heard rumors that your kind like to garden but I don't really know what that means.” Aurora asks.

Supernova grins, excited, and begins to tell the group all about the plants that grow in her area, and how they've been trying to grow plants up here in new locations. 

“Some seeds don't take to the soil though, it's a shame.” Supernova says, finally sitting down with the group. 

“Have you tried putting soil in a pot? You could then bring the plants to areas they don't normally grow in and grow them easier.” Fey suggests. 

Supernova turns to him, eyes sparkling. “Tell me all about these ‘pots’!”
