[Gift] Larry vs the raptor boyz
The feeling of boredom was creeping over Phaeniss as he walked behind the other two colourful raptors. Ferdinand and Kormal were ignoring him. They had been ignoring him for quite a while now. It was quite annoying. He wanted their attention and they both knew it. That’s why they were ignoring him. No matter what he said and what he did they wouldn’t as much as glance behind them at him. The only thing he could really do right now was to stay behind them and plot his counter-attack against them. Ferdinand and Kormal both knew what Phaeniss had going on in his head. They enjoyed letting him stew for a while in his plans. So far he had never ever managed to actually surprise the two of them with his attacks. Even if he went fully into the attack and made sure to give it his all they were never surprised by the attack. They could so easily read him and it always left a feeling inside of him of extreme joy whenever they managed to catch him as he attacked.
That was the moment they were waiting for as they walked on the side of the mountain. The moment when Phaeniss finally decided on how he was supposed to attack them. The moment they could evade his attack and instead counter it by pinning him to the ground. That day however, that attack would not come as Phaeniss, despite being almost completely concentrated on the two raptors in front of him, managed to catch something just at the edge of one of the smaller hills. It was barely visible against the grass and hadn’t it been for the angle of which he saw the creature he wouldn’t have actually seen it. Now the brown, quilled Oviraptor stood out against the light blue sky behind him. A mistake that would surely cost him as both the pink raptor Kormal and the orange raptor Ferdinand noticed Phaeniss' wavering attention. Phaeniss crested feathers were all on edge as his eyes followed the small creature as it slowly dipped into the grass and then emerged again.
Kormal gave Ferdinand a meaningful look, a wide smile on his lips as Ferdinand responded by looking back at the much more murderous raptor behind them.
“I think we found something to do.” Ferdinand’s voice was as low as possible. Phaeniss reacted to the words but did not take his eyes off the brown Oviraptor. If he left it out of sight just for a moment he was sure that it would disappear into the grass for good.
“I think we have.” The pink raptor responded in the same whispery tone. “What do you want to do?”
“I would like to play a bit.” The orange raptor responded as Phaeniss nodded slowly - as if a too fast nod would make him lose track of the brown oviraptor as it so casually moved about in the grass. Not realising that it was watched by perhaps three of the most colourful raptors in the vicinity. “The question is. Can you just play? I don’t want it to be over too fast.” Ferdinand looked down onto the green and yellow raptor who didn’t let his concentration off the Oviraptor even to answer. He was slowly crawling forward. Ferdinand let out a quiet sight before stomping one of his feet over Phaeniss face, pressing it hard into the ground as Kormal kept the oviraptor under watch.
“I asked you a question.” Ferdinand lowered his head closer down to Phaeniss as. “I want you to answer it,” Phaneiss squirmed only for a moment before he looked up at Ferdinand and nodded, “a proper answer.”
“Yes.”
Ferdinand gave him a smile before letting go of his face. It took him a couple of seconds of freedom before he moved again. He quickly looked around the area he last saw the brown oviraptor before his attention had been taken away from him. When his eyes found the brown dot again his crested feathers once again stood up on edge.
Ferdinand and Kormal gave Phaeniss the easy part. He would be hiding behind two stone pillars as they scared the oviraptor towards him. And when they got close to him he would jump out and they would keep the oviraptor cornered between. Phaeniss was a bit disheartened by the fact that Ferdinand and Kormal only wanted to scare the oviraptor. He wanted to go all out. It had been a long while since they had met another dinosaur after all. It hadn’t been especially hard for the two raptors to convince the green and yellow raptor to just follow the plan. He may often want to attack the other two but he enjoyed following their plans regardless.
The plan was a rather long plan. That was the toughest part, specifically for Phaeniss. He didn’t really have the patience for the long wait he had to endure as Ferdinand and Kormal slowly and quietly made their way towards the oviraptor so that they could make sure and scare it towards him. The oviraptor seemed fairly oblivious towards all around it but whenever it came to the smaller dinosaur they always had a certain awareness of their surroundings in case of emergency.
Kormal, the pink raptor, was the first one that made a move. He came from the oviraptors' right side. He made sure that it couldn’t see him at first. Instead rustled the grass in a way that just didn’t sound natural for the wind to have caused. When the oviraptor's attention had been grabbed he made sure that it could see him. It started to immediately run, and that’s when Ferdinand jumped out of the grass from the brown oviraptors left side.
“Hello.” The word Ferdinand used was friendly but the tone he used as he greeted the surprised oviraptor was filled with malice. Something the oviraptor was not late with picking up as he turned quickly away from the two raptors and started to run away from them both instead. As the brown oviraptor made his way towards the tall stones standing at the path on the side of the mountain he was greeted by Phaeniss instead.
“That’s no way to greet someone.” Phaeniss couldn’t hold the laugh from his voice as the oviraptor stopped in his tracks and turned on the spot only to realise that he was encircled by three different, colourful raptors. Every single one held a grin on their face that screamed of ill intentions.
“Wha-what do you want?” The brown oviraptor tried to sound brave but not only were the three raptors all bigger than him - they seemed to all know each other. It didn’t take the brown oviraptor especially long to figure out what was happening. “I-I am just walking here.”
“So were we.” Phaeniss started to walk closer to the oviraptor as he spoke to it but as his gaze caught the orange shape of Ferdinand and saw the ever so slightly shake of his head he stopped walking closer and instead kept walking in the circle around the oviraptor. They all walked slowly in the same orientation so that the gaps between them would be easily closed in case the oviraptor tried to make a daring escape between them.
“We just wanted to say hello to a fellow traveller.” Kormal’s voice was so much calmer than Phaeniss voice, yet there was no doubt that he felt the same wicked enjoyment of seeing the oviraptor terrified.
“Well, you have a funny way of saying hello.” The shaking in the oviraptors voice was quite hard for him to hide and hearing it only made the raptors smile bigger.
“Really? And here I thought we did a really good job at it.” Ferdinand made his voice almost apologetic but it was a very clearly fake apologetic tone his voice carried that not a single soul would find comforting. Especially not the slightly shaking oviraptor that stood between them.
“Honestly. If anyone was rude it was you. Am I that scary so you felt you had to run?” Kormal’s voice was that as well clearly fake as he pretended to be hurt by the oviraptors actions.
The only one of the three raptors who lacked the ability to show any other feelings except murderous intent was Phaeniss and perhaps that was why the brown oviraptor kept his eyes a little bit more on the colourful yellow and green raptor than the other two. Phaeniss clapped his jaws slightly towards the oviraptor as it glared at him. His gaze completely fixated on the brown raptor. Both Ferdinand and Kormal knew that he wouldn’t be able to wait for too long before he started deviating from the plan they all agreed on. He kept trying to close the circle on the oviraptor and he was giving less and less attention to Kormal or Ferdinand. The two raptors gave each other a quick look.
“I think you should run.” Both Kormal and Ferdinand laughed as Phaeniss took their words to heart and lunged towards the oviraptor. It quickly ducked, not before letting its quills brush against Phaeniss chest in an attempt to deter him from his second attack. Kormal and Ferdinand looked as the oviraptor was followed by their partner.
“Stop.” Ferdinand shouted. It took Phaeniss a couple of seconds before he listened to the orange raptor and let the oviraptor escape him.
“He’s not going to be happy about that.” Kormal laughed as the yellow and green raptor glared back at them.
“I am counting on it. It’s not like he would have caught it anyway.”
