Ignis flapped his wings, rapidly beating them in order to gain altitude in the air as his harsh gaze scorched the land below as fiercely as fire. Somewhere nearby, there was an oviraptor. He had been following the tracks for hours now, and the trail was getting fresher and fresher. It was almost time.

By his side were two much larger flyers, tropeognathus. While normally Ignis preferred to fly solo, the strange going ons meant that temporary alliances were a must. To his left flew Ebon, a white and black male with a pale face and tear-like markings on his face. To the right was his twin Jay, a blue-grey and white female with small dots along her back like a winter storm.

A figure in the distance caught Ignis’s eye- with a sudden motion he dove, the two trope behind him squawking in surprise but following. Ignis narrowed his eyes, vision focused on the strange figure in the distance. An oviraptor, digging into the ground, oblivious to the world around it. Gotcha. With the power of momentum Ignis smashed into its side, clinging on harshly with his sharp claws as the oviraptor squawked and tilted. However, Ignis himself was not large enough to tilt the oviraptor over- which was where the twins came in handy.

Before the oviraptor could react, Jay and Ebon were there to help drag it down. Ebon locked his beak around the omnivore's flailing tail, while Jay clamped hers around its thin, chicken like neck. The oviraptor stopped struggling instantly, looking up at them with big, sad eyes. Pathetic.

Ignis clapped his beak loudly, before leaning down close to the oviraptor. “Now…” he let his dank breath wash over its face “tell us what we want to know… and you won't find out what flying is like…”

Once again, they were flying. To Ignis’s slight disappointment, the oviraptor had started to spill instantly, blabbing on about some kind of human structure and ‘gateway’ it had come through. However, they were unable to get more information out of it after that, especially once Jay had squeezed a bit too hard and the oviraptor had passed out. They had left it there in the grass, flying away in search of what it had mentioned.

Ebon flapped forward, eyes scanning the ground as he looked around for any human structure- specifically, isolated ones. He doubted that this gateway was in a building already  occupied by dinosaurs, otherwise someone would have noticed. Hearing the flapping of wingbeats, Ebon turned to meet Jay's gaze as she scooted closer to him. Gently, the twins tapped beaks mid air- reassurance that everything was going to be ok. Ignis was scary to them, despite his much smaller size- the manic gleam in his eye, and the way he delighted in tormenting other creatures. The sooner they could find this, the sooner they could leave him.

Jay was the one to spot the strange building first, clapping her beak loudly. “Down there!” She hovered mid air, looking downwards as Ignis and Ebon copied her. Beneath them, a human structure absolutely overgrown by various plants. Swopping down, the trio alighted on the ground in front of it. Something was… wrong with it.

Curious, Ebon walked forward and placed a wing against the walls. Instead of being made of stone or bricks, they were clear, but clouded and cracked from age with a strong green tint. Metal beams criss-crossed between the panels of what Ebon recognized as glass, many panels completely shattered from time and the elements. Thankfully, the door had long been destroyed, leaving a gaping but safe entrance.

“Come.” Ignis strolled forward first with little fear, carefully picking his way across the ground and around piles of glass as he made his way in. While the shelter and protection of the greenhouse had long been shattered, still various plant thrived. The area within really was not large- the trio of flyers quickly had to separate and spread out along the narrow pathway in order to avoid pushing each other into piles of glass or greenery. “Spread out. Look around for anything.” Ignis hissed lowly- he did not like the feeling of being forced so close to the ground. Opening his beak slowly, he couldn't help but wish for a burning stick to hold- but at this range, he would burn himself as well.

Jay hopped her way over to a section of plants that must have once been on some kind of table- but the structure had long since collapsed, spilling the plants down onto the ground and allowing them to grow over and consume. Curious, Jay nudged her beak against the plants. They seemed, well, like normal plants. Perhaps they had a purpose long ago but to the creatures who lived on the island, they had little use.

Ebon was more curious in the design of the human structure itself. Carefully spreading his wings, he took off and took to the air. Carefully beating his wings, he observed the layout of the building with a bird’s eye view. The soft dirt ground of the greenhouse was almost entirely covered by plants, in some areas only plastic structures stopping the plants from growing over the paths. There seemed to be no sign of any oviraptors having been here- if this had been the place they had come from, surely there would have been more signs- footprints, feathers, any kind of clues. Instead, all that they had was a place abandoned by man and overcome by plants.

Ignis clapped his beak as he strolled along the ground. “This is a bust.” He hissed. None of the plants here matched the description of the strange, monstrous plants popping up across the island.

With a loud flap Ignis took back into the air, flying out of the greenhouse. Jay and Ebon fell into place a ways behind him, quiet as they could sense his annoyance and did not want to risk drawing his attention. Hopefully they could wrap this up soon… who know how much longer the peace would last between the trio.
