It had been a rough spring so far and most dinosaurs had been dealing with the harsh bugs that came with the warm weather, as they came in waves and usually were a nuisance for most. For most herbivores it was something they couldn’t avoid as with foraging in the lush forests and large jungle like areas it was a home for most insects.

When you were much older it was a lot easier in learning how to avoid the swarms but with the birth of new life on the island they hadn’t quite gotten the hang of it yet and some learning techniques was in order for most.

Vibrant green scales peered through the much darker foliage as the large herbivore pushed through the thick foliage and behind him was a much smaller fuzz ball with a ray of different colored feathers.

“keep up Fireworks , I need to teach you quickly since spring came fast. It takes a lot to become a strong theri” a rough voice spoke ahead of the small hatchling as its long claws sliced through the foliage with ease.

Monster had found the young hatchling in a nest left by itself and decided to take him in under his wing and teaching the way of living was his first step for the young hatchling and of course not the easiest but he would manage and the first important thing for fireworks to learn was how to deal with the bug swarms.

As Monster pushed through the large swarm he motioned for Fireworks to follow which the small hatchling did not all to thrilled about having to deal with the swarm that flew around his face and beak, but he soon spotted something ahead of Monster and he would soon learn how to deal with the pesky swarm.

It was a mud puddle and Monster walked right into it and laid down before rubbing himself as Mud stuck to his scales, which Fireworks watched in confusion, he wasn’t sure what and why Monster was doing what he was doing but it wasn’t long before he was told to come over by the large green theri.

“What is this, it’s all sticky and dirty” Fireworks squeaked as he felt the mud surrounding his feet as he began to talk into the mud pit towards Monster who watched closely before giving a chuckle. Firework was confused but he wasn’t afraid to try new things if Monster was doing it and besides the large theri talked about learning the way of living and this was it, so he laid down in the mud even if it got his feathers dirty getting ready to listen to the next steps.

“It helps keep the swarm off you, the pesky little things don’t like the mud so it’s like a barrier to keep you safe” Monster said as he clicked his beak taking some mud in his claws and placing it on Fireworks who laughed slightly at the feeling it gave off.

“This will help, it seems like we just are getting dirty” Fireworks said in between laughs but followed suit as he fluffed his feathers and rolled around coating himself in the cooling mud pit. Learning things at a young age for a dinosaur was

Important and Fireworks was lucky he was found by monster since there seemed

To be a lot he had to learn at a young age.

Monster stood up as he shook himself slightly before nudging Fireworks up as it was now time to go as he had more things to teach, and with the helpful nudge Fireworks

Followed behind Monster in which the small hatchling noticed how the once buzzing and annoying swarm of bugs had decided to find something else somewhere else besides them. 

“Oh wow it worked so well they don’t like the mud” the young theri said as he followed quickly making sure not to lose Monster from his sight, but he was beginning to understand the ways of the theri and he was enjoying it especially from Monster teaching him.

“See you must make sure you remember these skills Firework, as I won’t be here all the time to teach you” Monster said as he stopped looking up at a large tree that sprouted vibrant green foliage from its base, which Monster took his claws and pulled them down plucking the large leaves which would provide nutrients and a food source for them.

“Now pay attention” Monster said as he striped the leaves from the branch and chewed them which Firework copied to the best of his ability, he would need to get used to his claws and how to properly use them so practicing being gentle was a good way to learn and how to not have them get in the way while he foraged.

Firework followed and copied Monster with each movement and began to understand his limits and what to keep a eye out for on what it took to become a successful theri and to make his life easier as he grew with the years to come, Monster always testing him and reminding him that being a hatchling was the easier stages of life always having a protector but always reminding him that he wouldn’t be around forever.

After a long day Firework was tired out as the small hatchling limped behind slowly wanting to look for a place to rest, and Monster understood that he had piled a lot on Firework which he agreed it was time to find somewhere to rest as it had begun to get dark.

“We can rest here, there is a lot for you to learn but this is enough for today” Monster said as he felt Firework lay against him.

“Thanks for teaching me, I had lots of fun” Firework said in between yawns clicking his beak before laying his head down “I know with all this I’ll be a strong theri one day and know everything” he added before dozing off.

Monster smiled and nodded before watching ahead making sure that Firework could rest for the more learning days ahead of them.
